I don't use it but I do know what the makers have to say which is:
Keppra is indicated as monotherapy in the treatment of partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalisation in adults and adolescents from 16 years of age with newly diagnosed epilepsy.
Keppra is indicated as adjunctive therapy
• in the treatment of partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalisation in adults adolescents, and children from 1 month of age with epilepsy.
• in the treatment of myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy.
• in the treatment of primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age with Idiopathic Generalised Epilepsy.
When they mention side effects they list these as most common - nasopharyngitis, somnolence, headache, fatigue and dizziness. I don't doubt that there are more. They state that while it is on the market exactly how it works is not known for sure. It also apparently doesn't seem to interact with other anti epileptics people may be taking.

I must keep reminding myself that not every one is a man. There is no indication that it causes birth defects. It does however find its way into breast milk so breastfeeding isn't recommended.
