Hi, I've only been diagnosed recently so do not know much about the disease yet. And I have no idea what trigged my first seizures..
How stressed should I be to get a seizure?? I have quite a stressful job at the moment

Definitely, I found the best way to keep my seizures at bay are to remain stress free. I do not put myself in situations or environments that cause me to get stressed, well I try not to. You will find your own triggers to look out for.
Low blood sugar was a new one for me, got me really anxious, until I realized that I was real low after eating something felt fine. Keep levels as normal as possible.
Dealing with a new diagnosis of epilepsy is scary in it self, but through using the right meds you will be fine. It takes time to work it all out in your head, but it does get better! Be kind to yourself!

Everyone is different. I find tiredness is my main trigger and the medication doesn’t help as it makes me very tired and after 11 years my epilepsy is still not controlled. I don’t think people realise just how much this illness takes over a persons life if it’s not controlled!!

Thank you all for taking part in this discussion!
Are you tracking your symptoms and things that trigger your seizures? Has it helped you to understand your illness better?

Even when you are finally prescribed a medicine that at best, can ensure you have far fewer seizures, those seizures harm your brain and the medicines cause side effects. Mine cause weight gain, memory problems and loss of libido.
I have fewer seizures after brain surgery but I am now unemployed after losing my job on incapability grounds as i couldnt work fast enough.
Epilepsy can affect you as much physically, and also more so socially, and that is really upsetting as I cant change the way I am for society that is all about being selfish.

But regarding stress, I try not to worry, if I worry too much I will most certainly have a seizure.
Certain fragrances sometimes cause me to have a seizure and so I dont sniff or spray too much perfume to avoid an attack.
All I can suggest is to learn to understand what your body can cope with. I wish I could do more, work full time and have a fabulous job but I know that is out of bounds for me.
I am still out of work but if I can one day find a living that puts me better off than being on ESA, & PIP, that would give me financial independence.

Fevers, low blood sugar, fatigue, alcohol... many things can precipitate, if not trigger an epilepsy seizure.
Have you noticed and tracked what circumstances precede your seizures? Compare them with those of other patients!
