I have A.S. and all it's other ailments. My daughter has it too but she also has psoriasis with it. I have rashes in sweat spots as we live in a very hot tropical place. Small hematomas ( blood clots ) in joints of fingers which are painful to touch and prevent me doing simple chores like peeling potatoes or holding a cup of tea etc. My eyesight has deteriorated and now am one step away from blindness. ( 5 ). All the other things that go with A.S. I have too. 10 vertebrae are damaged which causes pain down my arms and legs, neck and across my chest and shoulders. I recently had a dislocated shoulder and two hairline clavicle fractures from trying to move my heavy couch on my own. So it goes on. Very few people have even heard of AS so there is some disbelief among the masses which is so annoying. It's only here that I can ask questions and get answers, thank goodness for this site and the people in it. At the moment the only meds I use are Tramadol as needed and Tramadol injections when the pain is very bad. Here we do not have meds as in the "west" but I seem to be able to "consult my body" and consider what it needs alone. It's certainly not easy and I do wish I had some help at home or a close friend. My family are all in Australia so I rarely get to see them. My youngest daughter is in University so she's away most of the time. My cat keeps me company and curls up beside my when we sleep. Thank God for small mercies. Hugs to you all...G
