I have a mobility disability and several chronic illnesses so when it comes to meds n consultants have been there.

Am on fentanyl/duogesic morphine patches for 8 yrs I fluctuate between 25mg & 50mg yes any opiate based medicine slows down your system and causes constipation but try duphalac or 3 weetabix

@robjmckinney Hi I drive wearing fentanyl patches and have for many years. I made my car insurance company aware of my mobility disability my ME n Fibromyalgia and all of my pain drugs especially pethidine. I never drive with pethidine or any opiate oral or iv or injection drug but I can drive with the duogesic/fentynal transdermal patches and it's not a ban in Ireland or UK. Where are you based Rob?

Hi Suzhannah

You asked where @robjmckinney lived.  That was last year. In case he doesn't see it I've come across a message from him saying Cambridge {I assume UK} ??

Yes I live in Cambridge England, I did contact the Police and DVLA reference using Morphine while driving, they stated it would be illegal. There is quite a list of prescription drugs that should not be used whilst driving, many state as such. In England Laws have been tightened and many drugs state not to be used whilst driving and using machinery. The blame culture today seems to be looking at any excuse when only a few are really affected with such drugs but it is now the Law.

@robjmckinney

Maybe for oral morphine but you are allowed to drive while using fentynal transdermal pain patches
