@Mother2 Hello Mother2, thank you for starting this discussion. We've just published an article in our health magazine on gastrointestinal conditions that I think may be of some help to you. I'll link it here:
Gastrointestinal Disorders and the Coronavirus
I think others may also be worried about this. Let me tag them so they can weigh in. Hello members, I hope you don't mind me tagging you! Are you also concerned about going back to work? Are you worried about your treatment putting you at risk of catching the virus? Feel free to share here!

Hi, yes I am worried about working , I haven't been told not to work by my gp or hospital I have ulcerated colitis and high blood pressure , I'm ok at the moment as I'm only working a day here and there but once the lock down is lifted its a different story, I drive a bus that picks up the elderly and take them to a day centre.

Hi, yes I'm concerned about returning to work. At present I am working from home, as are all of my colleagues. I have had a shielding letter so wouldn't be returning to the workplace until the end of June anyway. But I do feel concerned about leaving the house if restrictions begin to be lifted as there is some level of acceptance that people will continue to catch it and some people will die. The only hope really is a vaccine and who knows how long we might have to wait for that to be developed. Quite concerning times really as social distancing and hand washing alone within the workplace is not going to prevent the spread as you do touch surfaces and can't realistically be permanently washing your hands.

We all seem to be quite lucky as I'm also working from home currently! @Mother2 I wish I knew more about that but I'm not sure how long the effects of steroid last after a flare. Have you been able to ask your doctor about it?

I did ask the Gastro nurse.
im not too sure that he was too sure especially with regards to Covid 19 still going around. He did give me a guideline of 4 to 6 weeks after I stop my course as long as I am feeling good.
Thanks

I had an OP appt last week and was started on high dose steroids for a flare up. My consultant said that the guidelines are once you have decreased to 20mgs you can safely go back to work. She advised me not to go back until I had finished my course.
Hope this helps
