I suffered many bouts of diverticulitis before being prescribed sulfasalazine for Rheumatoid Arthritis, (in 1996) and I'm happy to say I have had no such attacks since, and I do believe that having it prescribed in the very early stages of RA was instrumental in slowing it's progress so while it may no longer be considered the ultimate treatment for RA, I am happy to continue to take it

I was prescribed this drug for psoriatic arthritis. After 3 weeks of taking it I developed extreme red hot and blistered skin all over my legs, arms and trunk. I had to stop and take steroids for 2 weeks to settle my skin. 8 years later I am still troubled with skin issues i.e. small blister type spots randomly appear and are diffucult to treat. My Rheumatologist reckoned I was probably 1 in 10,000 to experience this side effect.
