Oh lindam I understand how you feel but not talking ain't something I recommend it's a tough life for everyone and we all have stress and upset that causes us to break down and retreat into our own but you have to break the cycle, its difficult I know but talking is a natural way of sorting it out. Have you every written something and then proof read it out loud and then realised it's missing words and grammar, it's the same thing when your depressed if you bottle it up in your owns head it doesn't make any sence but if you talk about it and release all the stress in your head you realise that it's not that bad and it's manageable and easy to break down. Would you like to talk about it here ??
Hope to ear from you soon
warm regards X

I am man and have read this area with some insight to this topic. I have diabetes type 2 and take various tablets as you can imagine . As a previous male contributor stated I am not going to comment on the individual comments in here either. I have to say as I suffer from Depression also I feel some times I lack drive in this area. Its not that I don't love my wife and find attractive because I do. For me is my mind set right now. I am 46 and right now we are both missing out. But we do love cuddles and closeness but we have both said its not enough at times. We both feel that sometimes we would rather go to sleep. Any way I am sure you guys don't want to hear about that.
have a great day

Time for another man to comment. I was suffering with stress and depression caused by other long-term conditions including spondylitis, leaving me unable to exercise and putting on weight. So I was prescribed Citalopram, which has one major side-effect, namely ED, but somehow I don't worry about it. My wife is, of course very much aware of my total absence 'bedroom moves,' but she is 100% supportive and would rather have me happy even if I am underperforming. I assure you I could not have written this paragraph 6 months ago, such is the improvement.

Another man here! I'm also depressed & on citalopram and am also suffering its side-effects, which isn't helping my condition much. Being 55, and separated, doesn't help much either. There's good advice here.

Wow add the title Sex in and we all jump in, For me I had an abdominal Hysterectomy in 2012, before that I had a very active sex life, even after 16 years together, I had always been very interested and it was my husband could take or leave it, then 6 weeks after my surgery everything changed, I lost all sensations even when my mind has been interested my body just doesn't respond, I had been on Fluxotine for a long time, but that never changed it, I haven't been on then for about 14 months now, and I have lost all interest as my body doesn't respond, there is no pleasure sensations and I suffer from Atrophy which hormonal treatment didn't help.
I felt for a long time that I was nothing more than half a woman, not due to the surgery, due to the lack of interest on my body's part, I don't think Magic Mike himself could help. Does anyone else feel like this ? My husband is good, in fact for a while I think he was grateful, but I have tried everything I can think of, I am not embarrassed by my body, My scars which I have a few are my tiger stripes, my hormones are all good, while I suffer from depression it is more ups than downs over the past year.
I don't buy into the Hospitals theory of Nerve damage as It took six weeks to happen after my surgery, anyone else experienced this either ?
Love light and Peace x

Hi Stormy, good to see your so honest, most people see sex and back away from the subject. Depression does make you loss a lot of interest in things you used to like doing in the past, not just sex but hobbies, with my depression I just don't want to do anything, just sit and play games on my computer. I don't have proper meals and rarely cook for myself, being truthful even my person hygiene suffers and I have to force myself to shower about once a week and don't bother to shave everyday. So my sex life is way down on the list of interests.
Also I don't know all the facts about your hysterectomy but when I used to work I was cut up quite badly a few times and lost all sensation in that area and it took years for it to get back to normal. But saying that it's been 4 years since your operation so I would have thought if any damage was done to nerves and what ever causes sensation, that they should be healed by now and back in a fully working order so I'd have to say it's the depression that could be the problem.
I hope you get your sparkle back and enjoy yourself in the bedroom again soon, but don't forget just cuddling up is also good and it's funny how some things progress from there.
Take care,
Stu.

Depression basically just stops you enjoying everything i find, part of the reason i am in such a mess is bad ending relationships, guy always breaks with me and i always get a mental health issue . Learning better on my own :)
