Heat Pads placed over the joints work for me.
Don't like taking pain relief anyway because of my Diabetes and Liver Problems.

I have cervical spondylosis, osteoarthritis in feet knees and lower back, which the consultant calls DDD. I also have osteoarthritis in my fingers and really bad in my thumbs. I was told I was born with the tracking in my legs out. So I've had knee osteo for 25 years. I was not happy with the consultant that I had and so was changed. I have seen the new orthopaedic surgeon consultant just twice and he referred me after the first consultation to a paediatric orthopaedic consultant because there is also something wrong with my hips and the range of movement and so I have early signs of osteoarthritis in my hips and will need new knees and new hips. I try my hardest but can no longer walk my little dogs so a carer walks them twice a week. My neighbour was very nasty to me and said that my dogs do not see the light of day. I wish she could have my pain for just 15 minutes. I use a wheelie walker to walk and I've tried walking my dogs on the handles of that but it did not work and caused my back to spasm. People just do not realise the amount of pain that osteoarthritis causes. I sleep a few hours and then I wake in pain so sit down for a little while and try to get back to sleep, often I get no sleep. I have had different procedures on my back nerve blocks and nerves burnt, steroid and lidocaine injections. I have tried morphine, codeine and various other painkillers. They either zonk me out in a horrible way and not a nice sleepy way or cause other side effects. I take tramadol and paracetamol and the pain is still bad. I guess for me right now not been able to walk my dogs in normal times is the worst. I do not feel sorry for myself but I do feel very frustrated. My mum and my nana worked until they were in their 70s and I had to take early retirement in my 40s. I did do some voluntary work for several years but had to give it up in the end. I am 63 now answer know that I will never work again. I have a few friends who in normal times l meet for coffee but I rarely go outbecause walking even with my wheelie walker can cause me some bad pain answer there is little pleasure in going anywhere for any length of time. I know I'm not alone and feel deeply for the children osteoarthritis and so never had the chance like I did to run and play. I was also a community sports leader and very active before I found out about my knees and due to the pain the limitations on myself. That's some of my story. I wish you all well and wish for us all some reduction in pain. Take care x

I tend to eat mainly ready meals or cold foods like quiche. Anything l do with my hands causes pain and l have some special peelers that l use for peeling cucumber for tuna and cucumber sandwiches.
I find living on my own that the mess l can create if l make a cooked meal, is really too much. So scrambled egg on toast and sometimes baked potatoes and l get by. I am having a cooked meal delivered today from a community cafe that is closed due to Covid-19, so looking forward to that.
Sorry l am late replying l have had some issues with my laptop breaking.
Take care x

I took my two little dogs just to a small grass area nearby with trees using my wheely-walker. The eldest does have arthritis in his back legs and will not walk far and so it was only a short walk and a sniff round the trees for them, while l had a sit down. I will take them when l am able although just getting dressed is a challenge somedays.
All my medical appointments are on hold now and so with some other little tweaks l need doing irritating me l would prefer to sleep longer. When you are up between 4 - 5 am the days are so long. One of my other conditions is to do with my waterworks and so if it is not the pain that wakes me, it is the need to use the toilet.
I hope everyone is staying safe.
Take care x

Hello everyone,
Osteoarthritis impacts different joints in the body. It could be your spine, knees etc. Depending where your osteoarthritis is, it can make doing different tasks difficult.
