All my medical appointments are by telephone but I don't like. How can you properly reveiw a patient with things like arthritis, heart disease, lung conditions and the like without proper tests. I have not had a breathing test for around three years no routi ne chest xrays to see if things and only reason I saw arthritis specialist was due to change that required surgery whi ch was only apparent on physical examination. What a waste of doctor training if we do our own tests at home and doctors just work on a computer. Computers have a place to play in keeping records but not to replace doctor patient care and the trust that involves. What happens when the machines breakdown and data gets lost?

my doctors use an online form called E-Consult which helps them to decide what help you need and if you need a rescription or not.

These video appointments are ok yet so far the deployment of them are lacking somewhat. Most services which could use them as are not . Whilst ironically ones like physiotherapist which would be better in person face to face for treatment are not available and only online at present.
im finding the whole new GP practice set up of being triaged by a less than knowledgeable health professional isn’t helping. Practice nurses while experienced are often not appropriate and trying to speak to an actual doctor on the phone is near impossible.
healthcare has taken a step backwards in physical customer service of late.

My GP now won't even let us use an online consult for non-urgent problems if they can wait. I have had 2 bouts of cellulitis, I believe caused by discoid eczema that I didn't know I had. This was diagnosed by photos and they just kept giving me antibiotics. Last online consult just brushed me off saying you must be okay as you've had 2 weeks worth of tablets. I asked to see a nurse regarding dressings for weeping patches on legs - Refused. Got more help from local pharmacist and her staff! And of course google.

My GP practice only has telephone consultations. They don't even do online consultations, I have not been able to have a face to face appointment with a GP since well before the lock down last year.
How can any GP possibly make a diagnosis when they don't see you in person? I have several physical conditions, Bronchiectasis and Asthma, plus Osteoarthritis. Also struggling with my mental health which has been and is deteriorating. I'm in constant pain with the osteoarthritis which definitely isn't helping matters.
I have recently found out that they do have face to face appointments, only if they deem it necessary. I want a face to face appointment to discuss my various medical issues and get help to cope with them. I also need help with my mental health issues. I'm also crying much more than usual. I've been taking prescribed Venlafaxine. To be honest, the medication is not helping. I also know that for many people, they are extremely difficult to come off. There is no help whatsoever. I'm at my wit's end. With all the drastic cuts in finance and semi privatisation over the years, our NHS is a mere shadow of itself since it was originally set up in 1948. The medical staff on the front lines are amazing and have kept things going as best they can under extremely difficult conditions. The whole thing is a mess. Politicians don't give a toss about us. They have their private medical insurance and more than enough money to pay for it and many other things ordinary people can never afford. It angers me and saddens me at the same time. Welcome to 21st century health care in the UK. Sorry for rambling on.

I don’t mind the telephone consultation but I do miss having the regular blood tests that I used to get before COVID . I used to get a slow release drug injected once a month by the nurse and bloods done at the same time but now my husband has to do the jab and no blood tests. Unfortunately I can easily go downhill and these help to keep an eye on my general health so hubby worries

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
In recent months following the COVID-19 crisis, we've seen the NHS and health care industry turn more and more to telemedecine. Now, GPs and other health professionals are encouraged to conduct non-urgent consultations remotely by telephone, video and online consultations where possible.
Some of the NHS-approved tools include:
And what about you? Has anyone used teleconsultation recently? If so, in what context? What did you think of it? Is it something you'd continue to use in the future? Why or why not?
