Hello everyone, we've just published an article that answers many important questions people may have about social distancing measures and the coronavirus:
What is an epidemic? What are the mechanisms for the spread of an epidemic? What are the strategies used to contain an epidemic? Why is social distancing so important? What are the social distancing measures imposed by the Government?
You should find the answers to those questions and more in the article here: Social distancing: How does it work?
Take care,
Courtney

with the rules of lockdown, if you had to take a walk to take blood glucose levels down, before taking once daily exercise, could you count the first walk as medical grounds

@JaneHewitt That sounds acceptable to me. But I'm not an NHS official. They keep updating the rules, have you checked the NHS site to see if they explain further?

Hi all I am sure you have all been watching the news but just incase .... you are no longer allowed to drive your car to take your dogs out or to to a park or somewhere to exercise. The police can issue a on the spot fine. I also read somewhere that you should not be giving people outside your families lifts in your cars . Stay safe and well everyone

The news is updated hourly and daily... Fines are now being issued to businesses and people that do not abide by the rules... Beaches are inundated with people that just 'go for a drive' never mind who they are affecting.
They don't seem to care about spreading COVID-19. There are always those that abuse the rules and make it harder for the people that care and stay at home.
I hope the Police do serve some harsh fines on those that couldn't be bothered to 'stay at home' and listen to the Government who is only appealing for people to stay safe.
It is often those that are out and about having fun that spread COVID-19 to others who are elderly and vulnerable, some of which already have major health problems.
We are all in the same situation, so do your part and help both the Government and the community STOP COVID-19!

I am taking two daily exercises, 1 very short one, of about 15 minutes, and then a longer exercise in the afternoon, but the exercise rule, cannot be enforced by the police

@JaneHewitt Hello JaneHewitt, that is great that you are staying active. We are indeed allowed to leave our homes for one form of exercise per day. Exercise is so important for both our physical and mental health!
Take care,
Courtney

Hello everyone,
You may have heard the term "social distancing" a lot lately in the news and on social media. To slow the spread of the Coronavirus through UK communities, the Prime Minister and the NHS are encouraging us to practise "social distancing" measures.
But what is social distancing, and how is it practised?
Social distancing is a public health practice that aims to keep the sick from coming in close contact with the healthy in order to reduce opportunities for disease transmission. This can include large-scale efforts like closing public spaces or cancelling group events, or smaller-scale decisions that individuals make such as avoiding crowds.
In the context of COVID-19, the objective of social distancing is to slow down the pace of the outbreak so as to lower the chance of infection among high-risk populations and to reduce the burden on healthcare systems and workers.
Social distancing in the context of the Coronavirus can be defined as: "remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 2 metres) from others when possible."
In addition to physical distance, proper hand-washing is crucial for protecting not only yourself but others around you, because the Coronavirus can be spread even without signs of symptoms.
In recent days, many actions have been taken by cities, businesses, organisations and other authorities to encourage social distancing, like:
What about you?
What do you think about social distancing? Have you tried it yourself yet? Do you have any tips for others on how to make it more enjoyable?
Feel free to share below!
Take care,
Courtney
