i totally agree with Lesmal about wearing masks and obeying the guidance and observing common sense, yes we have illegals coming into the country, and its possible that some of them do not speak any English and have not been vaccinated? yes Covid19 maybe on the decrease, but all it takes is 1 carrier to sneeze and most people around them will possibly become infected, as may others they come into contact with. then they unknowingly will catch it. there at present is no guarantee that because we have had the vaccines, we are immune, as some people like myself and others are living with compromised immune systems
i personally am not prepared to put myself and others at risk of catching it, because i wont wear a mask. it used to be said that, if you wear a mask then "you are up to no good"?? but now looking on the bright side, means that wearing a mask means that we are caring and considerate towards others, plus" we are all in fashion now!!!

I am all for wearing mask even after my completed 2 doses of vaccine, not just to protect myself but to protect any one else I come in contact with. You never know whether the people you come in contact with are positive unbeknown to them. I don't use public transport, but if I did, I would wear a mask. I walk in the open fields where I do not meet people. So I don't wear a mask then. But in the open public streets and in the shops, I shall continue wearing the mask.

Sorry to say I totally disagree with you.
Your comment was quite blase about the death rate, and people have died without underlying health conditions. It is wrong to say the average age was 81 as if it did not matter, all the deaths mattered and there are plenty of families grieving. Also the long covid, that does not only affect people who have under!ying health conditions. The vaccine is not 100% protection.
I am surprised by what you say and more so because you are vulnerable. I really hope you never regret ditching your mask jyst because the government says it is ok to do so. Covid maybe on the decrease but in some areas it has increased, there is nothing stopping it from spreading again with this Indian variant or any other. I really do believe caution is the best way forward. I have protected myself since March 2020 I am not just going to throw caution to the wind and hope I will be safe.
Naturally people differ with their views which we are entitled to, the world would be boring if we all agreed.
Stay safe everyone and keep healthy🤗

Well it is good to have different views on this site and interpretation of the so called government experts is your individual right. Statistics are the new facts that allow you to make an individual choice. I choose through my interpretation of the statistics and facts for my path on how we will proceed.
My wife and I want our life back and intend to pursue than agenda rather than hide away. Our health is deteriorating as we age and illness (besides Covid), we intend to enjoy on balance that time we have left. Covid as far as I am concerned is over as it is at the level of the Flu and I did not wear a mask during the Flu season.
Long Covid is quite normal with similar affects for some people who have the Flu, ME etc. It is nothing new and only affects a tiny group of people just like the death rate of those under 40.
The only guarantee in life is that we are going to die and I have experienced enough in life of others dying. Not pretty for most, so rarely peaceful and painless, the only bonus is that nature provides most some peace during the last hours and days. Most regret people regret that they did not do more in their lives as they slip away. My wife and I plan to enjoy what time we have left, the Doctors condemned my wife 20 years ago she has less than 5 years left. I survived cancer as many in my family did not, so I intend to enjoy life while I can still get about.
So with the risks the same as Flu, time to move on and get our lives back. The individual can interpret the facts and expert opinion for their own conclusion to follow. Life is to short to worry about it, stay safe!

Certainly back to normal non Covid issues, an ambulance job for my wife last night and back in ICU. A UTI that has caused an issue with her heart together with our old friend sepsis that raised its ugly head. The dreaded Norfolk hospital but as they have had an easy time during the Covid crises she should receive decent attention. I am of course excluded from the hospital and forced to rely on the NHS doing a proper job. The worries should she worsen, then life support being switched off due to them wanting the bed has been vastly reduced due to the crises nearly over. But you can never trust or have faith the NHS will always do the right thing without a close eye on events. My faith lies with my wife who has survived her many massive medical problems against medical opinion and is a survivor. Stay safe everyone and don't let this Covid madness dominate your lives, Boris wants you to have a big hug!

@robjmckinney ... Sorry to hear about your wife and hoping she will be on the way to recovery soon. I'm sure she'll be well looked after in the Norfolk Hospital; be grateful she's in hospital and being cared for.
I'm also sure the NHS will do whatever they can to make her comfortable and give her the attention and care required. I just don't understand why you run down the 'dreaded Norfolk hospital' and the NHS regularly. Since I've been in Northern Ireland for almost 4 years now, we've had excellent service from our Government Hospitals and the NHS, and I cannot fault the care both my husband and I have received.
Sending you both good wishes and strength during this time.

@lesmal
Hi Lesmal,
Thanks for the good wishes for my wife, she is somewhat confused due to the infection from the sepsis and UTI but there was damage to her kidneys. They have doubled the strength of the anti-biotics but she is still suffering bouts of the shakes and high temperatures so not there yet. So a waiting game to see how she responds, sepsis kills a lot of people and lost people through this disease.
As always it is all down to experience having witnessed it personally many times of incompetence that that cost lives and misery. As with most people we have no choice on who deals with our health and totally rely on the NHS. My opinion stems from many poor incidents by NHS staff, only by direct intervention was I able to save lives to my close family, some in fact lost their lives.
It will be a shame if this illness kills her after being forced into isolation for a year. Stay safe!

I've been thinking about this since I had my first jab 3 weeks ago.
I see many advantages in continuing to wear a face mask ~LESS pollution, less bugs leading to chest and other infections, lowering the risk of any other nasties getting in my system and finally not having to smell other peoples bad hygiene.
The disadvantages ~ facial expressions can't be seen (although this also has its positives), can't can't smell candles, new perfume etc. Saying that though it it's not compulsory this isn't really a major problem.
