@Courtney_J I've heard that CBD is becoming more and more popular for chronic pain but I've never tried it. I have a friend in America who uses it regularly and says it helps her but I'm not sure if it's approved here or not. I don't believe in essential oils but I've heard that acupuncture and other such treatments can be effective.

I am also up for trying the CBD oil although I'm extremely wary as to what they supposed to do and there seem to be so many different types around.
I've got a massager which are you regularly for my left shoulder and neck gives me a lot of pain I also use a TENS machine on my leg muscles.
I do use aromatherapy but I'm sort of convincing I've been using it so many years now I suppose it's just habit I also find that using mindfulness /meditation can help ~ it's getting into the habit of doing you on a daily basis.

I would love to use CBD oil, but it is contra-indicated with pregabalin. I would prefer to give up my pregabalin and morphine for pain and try a more natural way. It is hard to come off pregabalin and has to be done slowly. I am scared of the amount of pain that I might have if I try, has anyone else tried ?

@Courtney_J I was finally diagnosed with osteoarthritis in 2019. I actually had to argue with my GP to be referred to a rheumatologist. Osteoarthritis runs in my family as my grandmother, mother, and three of her sisters all suffered from it. It’s all throughout my body and I am in constant pain. The pain varies from annoying to excruciating. My GP tried me with several painkillers but the side effects were awful so she just wrote a prescription for 30mg/500mg co-codamol which doesn’t help. I am doing research to find something natural to relieve the pain. Homeopathic remedies, essential oils and turmeric are often mentioned. I thought about trying CBD oil, however the problem with that is there is no way to know the quality of the oil. Companies are springing up everywhere, each claiming how good their products are. Prices can also vary but can still be very expensive for small amounts of the oil. It’s all very disheartening.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
We just recently published an article about essential oils and their risks and benefits to our health: What are the health benefits and risks of essential oils?
What do you think? Have you ever used essential oils? If so, what do you use them for? How have they helped you? If not, is it something you'd be interested in trying? Why or why not?
Feel free to discuss here!
Take care
Courtney

I 've tried/used all but all except hypnosis. I have CBD gummies to try on order. Acupuncture made symptoms worse, site where needles were. Had a course on a cruise ship some years ago. So very expensive mistake. Others helped but only when away from my stressful life. That is not likely in these COVID - 19 times.

I have tried CBD oil but it didn't do anything for me. I had acupuncture at the hospital but that didn't make any difference. I did have aromatherapy massage which made me relaxed and sleep better. I have also had reflexology, really liked this as it identified the areas that were a problem. The trouble with complimentary therapies is that they are expensive if you are on a tight budget and you need to keep up with them to really get the benefits.

I am not a fan of most homeopathic medicines but can see a point to a good massage benefitting patients. CBD oil may also have a real benefit as the government tried to ban it for the masses. But quackery is a dangerous path that may lead to proper health care experts not addressing real medical issues. My brother died due to Chiropractor not recognising he needed real treatment. These are people trying to earn money from their quackery practices and medicine so always check with a GP etc. first then follow such homeopathic methods if you want.

I have tried CBD as well as essential oils and they do NOTHING for me. All of these CBD oils that you can buy over the counter are mostly counterfeit, but who has the money to get them all tested?! People are out to make a buck on other peoples pain. I would like to try REAL CBD that you need a medical marijuana card for. Maybe that might work.

Good morning to all of you,
How are you today? ????
Patients living with chronic pain are often confronted with challenges that make daily life demanding both physically and emotionally.
Did you know that alternative medicines exist and can be used as a complement to traditional medications (meditation, hypnosis, acupuncture, essential oils, CBD, etc)?
What have you put in place in your daily life to reduce your chronic pain?
Feel free to share and exchange comments below!
Have a wonderful day,
Courtney
