My first treatment was an over the top of the door traction thing that you put your neck into and gradually fill a water bag up to a certain level, (almost like hanging yourself) that stretches your neck and gives relief, you also had to have someone with you at all times whilst using it.

Hello everyone,

I thought I would revive this older discussion so we can talk about osteoarthritis treatments in general.

What have you tried for your osteoarthritis over the years? What medications (NSAIDs, painkillers, etc.) have worked? What hasn't?

Have you tried any complementary or alternative methods or therapies (physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, CBD, stretching, etc.)?

Have you had surgery or joint replacement? Has any of it helped?

@Courtney_J I’ve had most treatment s acupuncture swimming NSAIDS and most of the drugs and found the only thing that worked was prednisone two daily with my normal meds gave me some kind of life but they can’t keep me on them because of the risk , so I’m on biologics with one prednisone and my normal cocktail and I’m feeling good .

I'm currently taking amitryptiline and nefopam. I'm also having monthly physio appointments with exercises to do on alternate days. The physio says I'm making good progress but need to work on my confidence in my body.

No painkillers any more as they really weren't working after taking them for so many years. I have epsom salt baths and in between I use a balm of essential oils from MCC that has been an absolute lifesaver. As I have fibromyalgia and ME I can't exercise as I'm so exhausted all the time. I bought a Dorylax machine that stretches your back and using this for 2 1/2 minutes a day has really helped ease my back pain.

Hi. New to the group,I have ostiiarthritis plus sciatica and tendonitis. For this happy arrangement I'm on morphine patches ,have been for around 20 years. Last night which makes the 3rd Time ever I was cold turkey as the heat just peels away the patches by making me sweat more moist than anything . But I have an arrangement that I have 4extra 5mg patches for as and when I need them cos if you run out before the alloted date boy ,are you in trouble. And going cold turkey at the thanks to the NHS is just great. The hell can i do to stop them coming off my arm , and they are taped on. But that's my night last night ,shaking twitching sweating as the house is like an oven an to top it all, I've been in a flare up for the last week. So if any one out there goes through the same ,ehatr do you do if you have no patch?????

Hi, all I can say is the meds help for a while, it's all about knowing what your pain tolerance is. And no t taking meds all the time. Stretches physiotherapy etc always made mine worse 1 hour session would put me on my back for 2 days. Every week for 6 months they never listen when you tell them.
