My care from the start of my journey has been amazing. I was diagnosed in May this year after being admitted to hospital with double pneumonia. After returning home from my hospital care in the serious diseases ward at the Hallamshire hospital in Sheffield (which I would like to add were fantastic with me). I was called a week later from the consultant who was from the serious diseases ward to say they had noticed during a CT Scan a very small 6mm nodule and shadow on my lung. He said he wasn’t overly worried and would pass me on to the Chest Clinic at the Northern General Hospital and they would call, at this moment in time I myself wasn’t overly worried as I thought maybe it was from the pneumonia. He called and said he wanted to wait a few months before I had another CT Scan. I got booked in at the end of August and was then to await my results from the consultant there. They did call and unfortunately it had grown quite rapidly to 14mm. I was made an appointment to see him a week later because he was on holiday for a week. I went just over 1 week later to be told it was definitely cancer, oh my god the dreaded ‘C’ word I didn’t know what to think or say, he asked me after awhile of silence what I was thinking to which the only words to come out of my mouth was Well, let’s do this thanked him and left. My only thoughts was what more am I going to go through I have secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, and degenerative disc disease which already had caused two slip discs one rolling and awaiting surgery for that! I’m sure I don’t need to tell you all since then every emotion went through my body especially the one you don’t want to think about I’m going to die!! Anyway since then the wheels were set in motion for a PET/CT Scan, and test after test. I’m now awaiting open surgery on my middle lobe that their taking all out and will be going in on the 16th of November (next week) . I’m hoping and praying they get it all and I never thought I would be thankful for pneumonia I’m thankfully stage 2 and fingers crossed Colin the cancer will be rid of. I’m and always have been a positive person especially when faced with my debilitating health and only 55yrs old I have and hope to have at least another 30yrs lol 😂. The care I have received up to now has been second to none and I can’t thank them enough for being there for me all the way up till now. Love to you all my warriors we can do this and we are strong good luck to each and everyone of you and all my love. Julie 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
