I haven't had anything serious yet, but I have to be careful in the winter months because when I catch a cold it can turn into an infection or pneumonia. It's happened more than once in the past and it's really a frightening experience.

I had a rather scary time when, back in 2020, a cancerous tumour was found in my right lung but it could not be operated on for a further six months whilst I underwent respiratory enhancement. It was finally removed at the end of 2020 but, once again, the procedure further deteriorated my lungs so am still back in respiratory enhancement. All in all, it was a catch 22 situation and a very scary place to be! Needless to say, I have be fearful of any cough, sneeze etc., and spend most of my life in 'routine maintenance' for both cancer and COPD either awaiting scans or results!

It is certainly a scary place to be. i had breast cancer in 2021. Consultant was brilliant, did a lumpectomy on both breasts at the same time. Because of my breathing difficulties she did not want to put me under anaesthesia twice. After radiotherapy I experienced a worsening of breathing. Consultant from radiology suggested, by phone, that my GP arrange an Xray. Could not get passed a practice nurse to talk to my GP.
