Hey philstar67,
I was just diagnosed with multiple myeloma myself and still trying to get my head around the idea... But it is nice to hear that you are on remision.
About the job I know a friend of mine that was forced to take a medical retirement and she didn't know what to do, so she started freelancing, she was in marketing so she started advicing people online about advertising strategies, she even creates pages for companies and that she didn't know how to do it, she learned from youtube... So I think you could try do something like that, eve though you don't know how to do something, maybe learn and freelance...
I hope this helps you and I wish you luck, for the moment I am pretty bumed about my diagnosis :(
