I am on 12 steroids/ prednisolone a day. I also take doxycycline 2 tabs a day.
I have constant itching and painful rash.
It has taken a year to diagnose.
because of the steroids I do not use topical creams apart from hydrolmol ointment which I use all over.
it doesn't stop the pain or itching but does help with the dry skin.
What I would really like to know is:
1) how to stop the itching?
2) what are the signs of improvement?
3) how long will this last?
4) does anyone have any advice on help with the suffering and pain?
5) I'm self isolating but how immune suppressed are we, can we go to a shop or not?
I seem to be left on my own having read the lancet and google site for information. They all tell you what it is, but none offer advice on what to do

Hi everyone,
I've been taking steroid tablets, I dont like the gooeyness of the creams. But sometimes, when it's bad, I use the creams. @Suestone it sounds like you've had a bad time of it. How is it going?? It's been like 5 months since your last post and your case sounds way worse than mine. But mine can always get worse. To answer your questions:
1.When I get super itchy, squeeze a stress ball, it doesn't relieve the itch, but it helps me not to scratch.
2.Signs of improvement, less bright red, smaller/fewer spots.
3.My case goes in and out. Sometimes it lasts for like 6-12months, but Ive also been lucky for as short as 1. It varies
4.No real advice, somedays I'm just miserable. But I like ice cream, so I'll treat myself. Plus, the cold in my throat is soothing.
5.During high-covid times, I took normal precautions: mask, sanitizer at all times. But I didn't consider myself in a higher risk category because of my BP.
I hope to hear news from you that you are doing better!
