Hello @trevorbulmer
How are you feeling today? :)
Thank you for opening this discussion. I am very sorry to hear what your dad had to go through and hope he is in better hands and in better health too.
The diagnosis of a chronic illness, especially if it's rare, can be a life-changing experience. So let's talk about it together!
So let me tag a few members who may know more about this disease and share their experiences-
@ATLDeen @KayGoodchild @Kazza55 @Suestone @Kopf85 @koyenum @jojackjoseph @Glencairn @judithshapiro @Hucey. @Jennyred73 @mslightfoot @HelenTay @SaltneyOne @Stottycake @Suzanne @Mehrkhan @uLYSSE007 @Bridie @StewGrant @Jeannette91 @roblaw @GEODAN @davidwilliams @Chrish @Foxylady @Dorfman @Alysha @jandtbutler
What was your diagnosis experience like? Did you or someone you know face any problems after the vaccine jab? What symptoms did you have that made you feel like something was wrong? How are you doing today? Feel free to share your story here!
Wishing you a great week ahead,
Rahul from the Carenity team

Hi Rahul
Yes. You have my permission to tag them. Not sure how communication works on this site.

Trevor, I have had psoriasis most of my life and I have now just been diagnosed with bullbous. All during last summer I had a rash underneath the psoriasis and then a week ago the blisters started. I have also had the Pfizer jabs and have been on a psoriasis forum where it has been suggested that Covid jabs have made the psoriasis flare.

Hi Linda
Thank you for your reply.
Did a reply yesterday but it has disappeared. Pressed the arrow rather than comment. They need to get that sorted.
Sorry to hear about your BP diagnosis. I hope that you recover quickly.
Be very wary of the associated diseases rather than the visible skin problems.
My Dad missed his return appointment as they sent a wheelchair ambulance rather than a trolley one as needed and requested. I'm not at all convinced that dermatologists are appropriate anyway given that the visible symptoms are being controlled albeit with very strong and problematical drugs.
Best wishes
Trevor

Wrote loads last night but it disappeared into the ether.
Dad 86 developed Bullous Pemphigoid 3 or 4 days after his 5th Pfizer jab.
Nurse didn't know what it was, gave us some cream, come back in a fortnight.
Got much worse. biggest open sore about an inch and a half diameter so went to University of North Durham A and E. Bullous Pemphigoid was diagnosed and very strong drugs prescribed.
Dad became progressively ill and about 5 weeks after the bullous started he went into a home for crisis care. An apparent kidney infection resulted in doxycycline being halted and bullous flaring up all over his backside.
On 23 December Dad was blue lighted to hospital for what they thought was a kidney infection.
On 27 December the family was called in as they thought he was dying. They treated with thinners for blood clots, on lung intravenous antibiotics for infection/possible sepsis and hydrocortisone steroid, plus maximum oxygen.
Treatment worked and after further recovery in hospital and a brief stay in a community hospital Dad has now gone into a nursing home.
The mortality figures for Bullous Pemphigoid are frightening and the associations with sepsis, cardiovascular disease and neurological problems do not bode well.
Whilst I have yellow carded the covid jab with the MHRA the replies I have received are very disappointing. Additionally Dad's assessment on release from hospital made no reference to Bullous Pemphigoid but to Grade 2 pressure sores.
An early 2022 published Italian study covered 21 patients who developed the very rare Bullous Pemphigoid within a month of receiving a covid jab, of whom 17 had the Pfizer jab. Their Bullous lasted less than 'norma' bullous with 13 showing no bullous symptoms after 3 months, 6 showing signs of recovery and one with stable disease. Nothing is stated about the missing case.
Bullous pemphigoid is not on the yellow card report for covid jabs. Surely it ought to be.
I'm going to report Dad's deterioration to the MHRA but will wait until his return appointment with Dermatology next week.
I would be interested in hearing from others who have suffered Bullous Pemphigoid shortly after receiving covid jabs.
