Do you sometimes feel a little down during winter?

All the best,

I am trying to lay in things to do during the bad weather, to have an aim for the day and not to lapse into endless daytime TV.  I used to do cross stitch, but struggle to see the patterns now and to hold the needle - anyway, found a new magnifying glass that fits around the neck and so I am going to give it another go - maybe just fifteen minutes or so at a time, until my fingers hurt, rather than the hours I used to sit at it.  I have also found adult colouring - wonderful pictures to colour - childhood memories abound and it occupies the brain wonderfully and is relaxing - once again, when fingers hurt, will stop, but it is another good thing to look forward to.  I already read avidly and am addicted to my laptop - can't get on with a tablet as I can't press the screen properly - so this winter is all set.

Hi

I've just started on one of the colouring books and you are right...its relaxing.  I used to knit. Not brilliantly but for a long time....because more often than not I had to rip some out and have another go at it   I was thinking about starting that again but haven't got round to it although all the equipment is still there.

I still need to go out to do my volunteering {I enjoy it and it helps me} its just the problem of getting out...it all starts at 10am. Once I'm there I enjoy it.

Now I'm back from my break I'll try to pace myself and do some indoor things during the worse days

I must admit that in recent years we haven't been here for much of the winter as we have been renting an apartment in Gran Canaria for at least 4 months from Jan to Apr & that always seem to set us up ready for the summer.  But now as I cannot move around too much, we are now confined to our flat for the winter & I must tell you, that I am not looking forward to it at all.  Apart from our winter fuel bills being much higher, I will not be able to go out at all if it's icy or raining so I know personally that I am going to be very SADD.

Has no one suggested trying a Vitamin D supplement? It certainly helps me. Hate these miserable days. If it has not actually been raining it has been foggy. I feel better when there is a bit of sun. You can at least wrap up against the cold, but this damp gets into your very bones.
