Here is a very long but interesting article by CBC, which talks about boxing and Parkinson's disease, and which might be of interest!
Enjoy!

Your diagnosis doesn’t mean that you have to stop all kind of physical activity, on the contrary, sport is highly recommended for maintaining mobility, improving the constraints and increasing quality of life.
So, what activities and exercises are useful for patients with Parkinson’s? According to an interesting article, “How to Unlock and Restore Mobility for Parkinson’s Disease”, fitness training programmes including physical exercise, such as:
- walking backwards
- lateral shuffle
- grapevine cross
- high knees...
compiled with some cognitive tasks like counting backwards, simple mathematics or the memorization of a sequence, are great for providing a wide range of motion and at the same time training the ability to complete dual tasks.
Strengthening exercises for your ankles, hips and trunk are also very helpful:
- pelvic lifts
- squats
- hamstring curls
- leg lift...
you can find something that you enjoy. More or less ..
Finally, sport such as kayaking, boxing and Tai Chi are believed to improve the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease as well.
So, do you do any of this activities? If not which one would you like to start and why?
