Hi rosie
If it's possible for you try and get on a dafne course it really makes an incredible difference you learn to carb count and adjust inulins etc.
In relation to the weight gain it has an effect on the amount of insulin required, exercise is also very important for weight loss, diabetes and morale, I say this because I have been overweight for a number of years and in the last few year's have begun exercising properly.
It begins with the first step literally, I started walking and built it up to power walking and in the last year started running 7km.
You may need to increase your lantus but you need to be sure by doing a basal test.
Any questions justask.

Hello everyone,
How are you doing? Have you seen this older discussion?
With type 1 diabetes, weight changes can be common, especially around the time of diagnosis.
Did any of you experience weight changes - be it loss or gain - when you were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes? How did you manage it? Is it something you're still experiencing?

Just before diagnosis I went on diet nd was so proud of myself as lost 1 1/2 stone... Only to find out it was type 1 diabetes...was amazed as no diabetes in family...
Since then I've never lost weight as such.. Just toned up.. So disappointing. I do try to do 4 days walking 10,000 steps each day.. And have a stationary bike which ii use on work days and only 5,000 steps.. This is only for 20 minutes 3 days wkly...
So that's my wee story regarding weight loss...
Hope people here have had more success..

Hello everyone.
I am am new to this community and I'm trying to get some help as I'm struggling with my recent diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. I am 25 and have been diagnosed just over a year now, I have put on 2 stone in weight and its making me miserable! I'm fonding it hard to keep my levels steady along with eating smaller carb portions.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Any tips or help would be appreciated! I am on 20 Lantus at the moment.
Many thanks in advance!
