@Dolphin74 I can imagine how bad your depression is. I never got to say goodbye to my mam when she passed due to family reasons and I feel guilty every day. You'll never forget your Dad and will have your good memories just remember that and it will help you get through the day 😊

My youngest daughter 30, passed away April 21. It is so hard as I feel she should still be here. There are questions i will never get answered as I feel let down by the system. It has affected my mental health so much. I feel so lost & alone in this journey. She has a son who I only see a few times a year, I feel I'm grieving his loss as before she died, he was with me everyday since birth.
I also lost my mum in Nov 10, I still haven't accepted that she has gone. She had MD but it was still hard as she was only 59.

I totally understand how you must be feeling losing a daughter then a mother. I lost my mum to cancer at the age of 46 and after losing her I felt so guilty not saying goodbye to her as we had a disagreement that was never resolved also I had a miscarriage two years later. Life is hard to deal with sometimes but as long as you have support from family and friends you'll get by.

I have lost several family members to smoking related cancer and c.o.p.d in the last 35 years and at first it really hurt me and I didn't know what to do or who to turn to.
As the latest death was my older sister whom I wasn't close to it didn't hurt as much and I now have a,stone flower vase in my back garden I put fresh flowers in once a month, as I do for my other family members, i had to arranged her funeral which wasa hard thing for me as i wanted to make it special, i wrote a special poem and arranged for 3 pieces of music to be played at her funeral and laid her to rest in her line dancing costume, as she was a champion line dancer. We also played a line dancing song, for the reflection part of the funeral.
I only visit my brothers my brothers grave once a year, as his immediate family look after it, I go on his birthday which I'm new years eve.
It's over 30 years since my wife went to heaven. In her memory I have bought a defibrillator from yorkshire ambulace charity. which is placed on the wall of the local care home. I found out last week that it has been used to help save a life.by being used.
This makes me happy and I know that my angel in heaven wife will approve. And my perfect pixies life will live on as long as the defibrillator is helping save other people's lives. To me it was a donation from deep in my loving heart. To my loved ones in heaven I deeply love and miss everyone of you, even my grandaughter, who was born after 20 weeks and died age 50 minutes. I never saw her but love the knowledge that that Becky was my grandchild.

Torrow will be 29 yrs since I lost my mum and it still raw today I miss her terribly she was a massive part of my life as my dad was in a mental hospital and I only had mum but now she has gone I feel lost today I had talking therapies with a Dr Hill he was so kind and understanding, so tomorrow I am going for a meal with my husband to celebrate my mums life being 70 this Yr and losing my mum with lung cancer and her being 76 scares me so I suffer with Ptsd low moods depression and anxiety because of all my trauma I have gone through in my life and having someone to talk to is helpful as I can't talk to my family as I don't want them to be upset but it something I had to do as it was something I needed to do so now I am talking about everything I have gone through and maybe in time it will help I really hope so as my life as been hell what with being a battered wife with my first husband, and many other traumatic incidents but when I was diagnosed with breast cancer it was the icing on the cake so now everything has come to a head and Covid didn't help either Tigger

Hi everyone,
It's been a little while since we started this discussion, and I wanted to check in with all of you. Grief is such a deeply personal experience, and I know many of us carry stories that are both painful and healing.
For those who have shared before, how are you feeling these days? Have there been any new ways you've found comfort or moments where you felt your loved one’s presence?
And for anyone who hasn’t shared yet, if you feel ready, we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s a cherished memory or something that helped you cope, your words could really resonate with someone here who might need that connection today.
Recently, I came across an idea that grief isn’t something we “get over,” but rather something we learn to live with. Has that been true for you?

@Somya.P yes, it may fade a little with time, however there will always be unexpected triggers that bring everything flooding back.

@jvm00010 definitely agree time is a good healer but a piece of music, or a film you watch, or something you recognise does bring back memories of a love one or a special friend, and then that's when tears build up and I try not to get upset but sometimes you can't help it

I lost my father 2.5 years ago. He suffered from heart failure for several years, and familial diabetes. He was 70 years old. I'm 44 but even though I didn't have a close relationship, I feel a part of me has died. My mother is 73 in December and fortunately still working. I also lost my aunt and uncle the same year my father passed away due to ill health and old age. Followed by my father in law last year. Sometimes I feel there is nothing to look forward to in life. I'm married 17 years with no children as I am infertile and can't father children.
I remember when I had surgery to see if IVF was possible but no sperm was found. Both at my father's funeral and after hearing the outcome of being "barren" I was inconsolable.
I think about my father every day but try not to dwell over it too much. Especially when many families have lost their loved ones in countries where poverty and regional wars take place. I try to treasure each day, yet feel the weeks are going by as though one week is like an hour.

Hello everyone,
Many of us struggle when someone close to us passes away. Everyone handles grief differently and goes through stages at different rates.
Tell us about when you lost a loved one. What did you go through? What helped? What didn't? What do you want to tell us today?
Let this be an open discussion where you can talk about your loved one, share some nice stories, talk about your struggles, share advice to one another.
Take care,
Lizzi from the Carenity team
