I quite agree with you for quite a while after the group ended I carried on with the exercises, and then found myself finding other things to do which were more exciting and less boring until I now never do any exercise.Also although I appreciate the pulmonary exercises were maybe useful for my lungs, I was also desperate to shift some weight particularly around my stomach area, and nobody seemed the slightest bit interested in my doing that, so all in all I became disinterested. I tried to get others from my group to agree to carry on getting together but nobody seemed that interested.

what are the exercises you did, my lungs fill if they are full of mucas and a cough all the time

We used hand weights 0f about 1kg start with your hands on your shoulder height and then raise above your head and back down again. Next one was to walk on the spot like a march action, sit on a chair and get up from it as many times as possible, do knee bends going as low as possible, walk backwards and forwards along a given length of the room. Push ups but against a wall. The idea being to do as many of these as you could building up and increasing each time they were done. Hope this helps

The PR exercise we followed consisted of aerobic (walking and cycling) and strength (exercise steps, weights, plus others) personally I thought the program was very well put together we also had educational talks. But as me and others have highlighted it is boring doing exercises at home.What happens if your GP doesn't refer you?

Just reading the above exercises wears me out. I get out of breath just getting out of bed. Is there any hope for me?

I know after PR classes there is no follow on classes. Thank goodness here in Cardiff there is now a follow on class called Strength And Balance classes which is on going. As for Bollyhare have no fear I was like you 7yrs ago they start you off with really gentle exercises and very slowly will increase the time you do them and you are monitored all the time and no time left on your own, it's like like a normal gym at all.
I'm now a lot better and my oxygen blood levels are a lot higher which has been a blessing to me i'm now able to do a lot more, wish you all the best and don't give up.

I found the excercise very useful , was amazed at how much I could eventually do . Turn your can'ts into cans and dreams into plans

I did PR classes and it was the best thing I have done . After I had referral to gym and can day I have never looked back . I did 36 weeks in all under referal and then joined gym . I try to go 3 times a week and have gone from having monthly chest infections to rarely. My breathing is better and fitness has improved. I have never been into sport or exercise but the lift of of depression it can give you us us amazing.

pulmonary rehabilitation along lasts for 12 sessions. Isn't it boring doing exercises at home why isnt there a follow up program so copd sufferers can get together and help each other.
