Totally agree Shaun. Washing hands where soap and water available is best. using hand sanitizer after touching each item in the supermarket is better than wearing gloves. beware though, not to eat anything before washing your hands after using the hand sanitizer. If you are a smoker, must remember to wash your hands well, before using a lighter or a match

@Shaun33 Hi, although I do not live in the UK ( was born and bred there ), I now live in Bali Indonesia ( 23 years ) I agree with your comments and here we are still told to wear masks but not gloves. They say that gloves can spread the virus. We are still social distancing and not allowed to go to the city of Denpasar ( 3.5 hours away ) unless it's for work or medical reasons. The Indonesian Government have been especially cautious and I think it is paying off with fewer cases reported. ( according to recent stats )...In Bali the infection rate is lower than in most other places worldwide so we are very grateful for that. The biggest problem we are facing is lack of jobs and of course lack of food. Schools are still closed and my daughter is doing tele conferencing/classes on the computer. I think it has been very good for her as her term exam results were all A's, maybe she is more focused at home. One thing I would like to comment on is this...here we take off our shoes before entering a home. I am sure this makes a difference, we are not trekking dirt around the house as in the West....worth a thought....Hugs..G

Hi Gloria C We need to make changes to the way we deal with this virus but some people just have the attitude that it won't happen to them so I won't bother . Wrong very wrong . This is not going away anytime soon we all have to make adjustments.

@Shaun33 You are right about the adjustments that need to be made, trouble is we don't know the correct adjustments until " after the horse has bolted"....wish we did but we are all on uncharted territory, including Governments, scientists, doctors and other advisers.....we will live and learn I hope...G

Doctors are saying that fresh air and sunshine helps to build our immunity against the Covid 19 etc. I think very few farmers have got the Corona Virus as they are more isolated. We must try and build up our immunity by getting some sunshine and walking in the fresh air. Here in Ireland, our government has decided that people should wear masks in shops to help stop the spread of the virus.

The end of lockdown has scared me a lot, this is the reason I have been missing for a while. I am used to being not of this world now. I haven't had to deal with anyone, like the council, doctors, house agent, or even go into town. Since lockdown I have done most things online, or local shops, or a supermarket run. So since March I have not visited the town centre, no restaurants or bars. So when lockdown ends I know that I don't need to venture out so much, as I don't need to visit these places anymore, no need to eat out, no need to put myself in danger of panic attacks. My councillor won't like to hear this, but the stress of thinking in leaving the house, the thought of meeting people, and the feeling of danger, have all been sorted by lockdown restrictions which have left me nicely safe at home. My lockdown will continue long after these restrictions have ended, this is because the lockdown has shown that I don't need to do the things that causes me to be anxious. I know I am fuelling my isolation, but my well being has improved by this involuntary action of preserving me from contracting the virus, and in so doing passing it on to others. So my lockdown will never end, so what are your thoughts on this matter who suffer the anguish of mental health problems?

At least you have been out to the local shops and and done Super Market runs. We have not even done that since March. Everything has been done on line, and I am fortunate that I have good neighbours who have done our shopping from the local supermarket. We have seen no doctors, or hospitals or even face to face contact with any one. We have had no visitors and have been completely shielded since 16th march. All we have gone out for, the walks in the fields by the side of our house. We are also afraid of going out. Unfortunately I am expecting an urgent appointment with the specialist and i will have to attend that. There is social distancing in place and number of people seen are limited and time slotted. So with the use of hand sanitizer and wearing mask I hope that I should be okay. At some stage we will have to start going out, but start with baby steps, one thing at a time and take precautions and follow guidelines. We can not live in fear for ever. I am afraid of venturing out as well, but I am going to keep it to a minimum essentials, not shopping or restaurants or any where in the crowd. These are my thoughts any ways. I have not suffered Mental anguish, I keep myself busy with house chores, exercises and walks. I will not give into Mental anguish. I miss going to the gym and swimming pool and I miss going to church. I watch the Mass stream lined by our Parish priest, so that is some consolation.

Hello everyone,
If you haven’t already seen in the news, many countries in Europe and elsewhere in the world are starting to discuss or put measures in place to end the COVID-19 lockdown.
In his address last night, the Prime Minister Johnson announced an easing of restrictions regarding the lockdown rather than simply ending it.
The Government has established five tests that will have to be met before considering an end to the lockdown:
In addition, a new COVID Alert System, determined by the R number (the rate of COVID infection) and the number of Coronavirus cases, has been put in place to indicate how strict social distancing measures must be. It includes five alert levels, Level 1 meaning COVID-19 is no longer present in the UK and Level 5 meaning a critical material risk of overwhelming the NHS.
Starting Wednesday, people in England who "can't work from home" will be encouraged to return to work, but should avoid public transport if possible. From this date people in England will also be able to spend more time outdoors for leisure, including unlimited outdoor exercise, sport, or sun in parks. The PM also indicated that starting June 1, England may be in a place to reopen primary schools, shops and nurseries in phases, and hopes that some public places (including restaurants, cinemas and places of worship) may reopen starting July 1.
The Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Ireland governments have indicated that they will not be following with the June 1 date for primary schools. Decisions are awaited regarding the opening of shops and other businesses.
What do you think about this easing of restrictions? Is it too early? What do you think the impact will be on those who are extremely vulnerable or at risk? Do have any questions? Have you had any further information from your GP or medical team?
Feel free to share your thoughts and questions below!
Take care,
Courtney
