All of those things made perfect sense to me when reading them and interestingly the last thing you want to do when you are tired is exercise, but as for drinking lots of water, thats a good one too..........I always make sure I do that. Iron is an interesting one too as I very rarely eat red meat but often make sure I eat eggs...I love them.
I am still in the process of being diagnosed, but have a colonoscopy booked for 26th August which I feel very nervous about. Any advice would be welcome.

sorry but the reason I am always tired is because I have ME and Fibromyalgia. It's par for the course and the best thing for me is to sleep as much as possible

Hi @LizzieAnn , Try not to worry about the Colonoscopy , It isn't pleasant but they make you feel as comfortable as they can and it is all over very quickly . I have had problems with my stomach since i was about 23 , I am now 47 . I have had 5 Colonoscopys , 10 Endoscopys , Ive had ultra sound , CT scans , Barium xray , Only recently have they started to make progress in finding out what is wrong . I am now on the waiting list to have my Gallbladder removed . They do not know the reason for my pancreatic insufficiency . I am waiting for a capsule camera test , which is a kind of Endoscopy using a capsule that you have to swallow that takes pictures as it goes through you . I am hoping they find out soon because my symptoms have doubled in the past 3 months . I have the problem with my insides and crumbling vertebrae in my neck which they have said gives indication for an operation , but the last doctor I spoke to said it would be a last resort as it would be a very risky operation as it is right next to my spinal chord . I have been referred to pain management for that . I am hoping they give me a pain patch for the extreme pain episodes that I suffer . The pain goes down both arms and across my chest and along with severe toothache . I have been told toothache is not possible , but that is what I get when my neck flares up , I do not care how rare it is , I know what toothache feels like and I have been to a dentist , there is nothing wrong with my teeth , when the other pains subside so does the toothache . Enough about my problems , they are intermittent and I do manage to work part time as a registered Gas fitter and plumber . I have suffered depression on and off for most of my life but at the moment I am doing very well and keeping my mind occupied . I hope they soon diagnose what ever your problem is hun , please don't worry , I have been to hell and back and I am still soldiering on :) . Best wishes to you x

Hi @Lynnmarie , Welcome to the site . Have you tried promethazine . I take this at night with my other medication and I sleep fairly well . It is also good for anxiety and pain as it makes opiates work better . You should ask your GP about this . Best wishes to you x

Hello everyone how are you all? Hopefully you are all having a good evening? I have joined carenity as I have just been told that I have developed osteoarthritis in my right hip. I have to go for physiotherapy. I am missing all of my exercises as some days I haven't been able to do anything at all. I don't know if there are any dietary or exercise regimes that can help this condition or prevent it from getting worse? Would appreciate any information or advice you can offer? Thank you. Pauline x

Aside from the ‘side effect’, tiredness, that some conditions may carry, there can be some things we do on a daily basis that add fatigue to our life and we don’t even know it.
Here are some ‘habits’ you might have or things you might not be doing, that if you stop them or do them, it will change a lot or a bit (depending your condition) the way you feel every day.
1. You skip exercise when you are tired
Regular exercise boosts strength and endurance, helps make your cardiovascular system run more efficiently, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. So if you feel you don’t have energy to exercise, push yourself, because after workout you’ll have more energy than when you started.
2. You don’t drink enough water
Being even a little bit dehydrated can mess with your energy levels. When the blood has not enough water it thickens, which makes the heart to pump less efficiently. To calculate your normal fluids intake you should divide your weight in half and drink that number of ounces a day.
3. You lack iron
Iron deficiency leaves you irritable, weak, sluggish and unable to focus. Boost your iron intake by eating lean beef, kidney beans, tofu, eggs, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts and peanut butter.
4. You skip breakfast
Your body fuels with food, so when you wake up, you need to put some gas in to function and that is called breakfast. The richest the breakfast the better you’ll feel the whole day, because it is in the morning when your body needs to get started with all he’s got in order to function the rest of the day.
5. You live on junk food
Foods loaded with sugar and simple carbs make your blood sugar spike. Constant blood sugar increases followed by drops cause fatigue. You can keep your blood sugar steady by having a lean protein along with a whole grain at every meal.
6. You have a glass of wine (or two) before bed
Alcohol initially depresses the central nervous system, producing a sedative effect, but it ultimately sabotages sleep maintenance. Alcohol creates a rebound effect as it is metabolized, which creates an abrupt surge in the adrenaline system. So it is recommended to stop all alcohol three to four hours before bedtime.
7. You check your emails at bedtime
The white light of a tablet, phone or computer will deceive your body into thinking it is day time and can mess with your hormone that regulates sleep. This can vary from person to person, but it is advised to avoid all technology from one to two hours before going to bed.

I hope this info helps, and if you have more tips or questions don't hesitate in sharing!!!
All the best,
Gilda
