I would have thought the best cure for tiredness is sleep .
Good quality sleep is most important . Also ,
A good quality diet , one that avoids the sugar / insulin roller coaster . This is very exhausting .
For breakfast , the most important meal of the day , I would recommend chilli beef with spinach and sweet potato , olive oil , sprinkling of rock salt .
This will keep you going , till lunch , maybe a chicken and hummus wrap , and so on .
Also I would recommend , get a pillow . A laptop has no support for the neck , so one will wake up even more exhausted .

Very interesting . I would also suggest changing from regular sugar ( Sucrose ) to Glucose or Fructose to add to beverages as these kind of sugars give you a stable blood sugar level without the sudden energy release that ordinary sugar will give you . Fructose is naturally occurring in Bananas . Bananas are also a natural antidepressant because they contain L-tryptophan , which is an essential amino acid . Tryptophan functions as a biochemical precursor for Serotonin .

Best to avoid alcohol all the time . I speak from experience . Alcohol is really a massive direct source of energy . After a while , ones whole circadian rhythm is taken over by drink . So the natural sleep patterns are taken over by ' last orders ' in the pub , and ' happy hour ' , drink , and generally drinking . also , sugar in our diet . Beware of sugar substitutes as well . These are energy molecules ( like Alcohol ) and are very much more addictive and damaging than sugar .

Alcohol is never a good idea for anybody that suffers with depression , particularly if taking psychiatric medication . The sedative effects can be up to five times more potent than either one alone and potentially be life threatening . I have learned to cope without alcohol . I may on occasion , just socially have one or two pints but that is all . If you look after yourself you find your body functions much more efficiently . I rarely need to take any additional sedatives to sleep , but when I do it is because of the extreme pain I experience caused by arthritis from the crumbling vertebrae in the back of my neck . If I have to , I take Promethazine which is prescribed but also available over the counter . It is very safe and non-addictive andalso potentiates the action of the opiate pain killer I have to take .

Pain , in itself is very tiring , I know . I severed the ulna nerve in a rta on a bike . Hyper sensitive hand . Physio was torture . Sadly I got depressed about it , and you'r right , never mix alcohol and depression , alcohol being a mood enhancer .
Perhaps you can improve bone health with diet ? . Plenty bio available calcium , carrots / spinach /dairy .
Have a couple of pints of Guinness down the pub . Good source of iron .
ten pennies worth !

Hi @Ian59 Pain does draw your energy , Your injury does sound painful . I damaged my spine back in 2000 when I hopped off of a wall holding my tool box , something that I deeply regret lol . A few pints of Guinness won't do you any harm , In moderation , why not . I hope you are having a good day today fella .... I got rained off and had to come home early , I am hopping it is drier tomorrow :-)

@Ian59 Have a good evening pal ... It is very quite on here ... It is surprising when there are over 1000 members ... Hopefully it will pick up .... the format is so much better than the depression alliance , sane.org or psych forum , I have tried them all and this is by far the best site

Hi @Josephine643 , Thank you , I hope you aren't suffering too badly today . I am also a chronic pain patient . I take Oxycontin every day and evening . For me it is a vicious circle because the side effects of the opiate pain killer make my stomach problems much worse . I get withdrawal if I don't take it and more pain and worse problems with my gallstones and failing pancreas if I do . It is hard to know what to do for the best .
Kind Regards , Daren :)

Aside from the ‘side effect’, tiredness, that some conditions may carry, there can be some things we do on a daily basis that add fatigue to our life and we don’t even know it.
Here are some ‘habits’ you might have or things you might not be doing, that if you stop them or do them, it will change a lot or a bit (depending your condition) the way you feel every day.
1. You skip exercise when you are tired
Regular exercise boosts strength and endurance, helps make your cardiovascular system run more efficiently, and delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. So if you feel you don’t have energy to exercise, push yourself, because after workout you’ll have more energy than when you started.
2. You don’t drink enough water
Being even a little bit dehydrated can mess with your energy levels. When the blood has not enough water it thickens, which makes the heart to pump less efficiently. To calculate your normal fluids intake you should divide your weight in half and drink that number of ounces a day.
3. You lack iron
Iron deficiency leaves you irritable, weak, sluggish and unable to focus. Boost your iron intake by eating lean beef, kidney beans, tofu, eggs, dark green leafy vegetables, nuts and peanut butter.
4. You skip breakfast
Your body fuels with food, so when you wake up, you need to put some gas in to function and that is called breakfast. The richest the breakfast the better you’ll feel the whole day, because it is in the morning when your body needs to get started with all he’s got in order to function the rest of the day.
5. You live on junk food
Foods loaded with sugar and simple carbs make your blood sugar spike. Constant blood sugar increases followed by drops cause fatigue. You can keep your blood sugar steady by having a lean protein along with a whole grain at every meal.
6. You have a glass of wine (or two) before bed
Alcohol initially depresses the central nervous system, producing a sedative effect, but it ultimately sabotages sleep maintenance. Alcohol creates a rebound effect as it is metabolized, which creates an abrupt surge in the adrenaline system. So it is recommended to stop all alcohol three to four hours before bedtime.
7. You check your emails at bedtime
The white light of a tablet, phone or computer will deceive your body into thinking it is day time and can mess with your hormone that regulates sleep. This can vary from person to person, but it is advised to avoid all technology from one to two hours before going to bed.

I hope this info helps, and if you have more tips or questions don't hesitate in sharing!!!
All the best,
Gilda
