My son came all the way down to Canvey Island from Lincolnshire for the last two years. He used to have a book stand that went to shows and fetes - and came to do one in a community hall in Canvey Island. it was a long way to go - don't think he made much money because of the journey and accommodation, but he loved it and found the people very welcoming and friendly.
He has had to stop now having been seriously ill earlier this year, but still has fond memories of it.

@Suncatcher2015 sounds lovely , but must have had some drawbacks

It certainly does @roselilly I couldn't do it now. Climbing on and off a boat is not good with Osteoarthritis and severe back pain :) The main things I remember being difficult, were having to use my hairdryer to melt the ice on the hatch in a morning before we could get it open in winter, and if it rained and the deck leaked, it was always at 2 or 3 am and over my bed!!!!! I have woken up more than once with a wet duvet. The plus side is the wonderful sunsets on deck with a Gin and Tonic, and when you want a change, just setting sail to a new marina.

I'm wondering if we have anyone on here that enjoys photography and would like to share their pics.
I took it up when i was very depressed while suffering from Graves disease and it really helped to get me out of the house and improve my confidence because i was learning new things all the time.
This is a pic i took of a friend during a fishing trip in the Highlands. It's significant to me because the day was actually cold and blowing a gale, we caught nothing at all because we could hardly cast a line. Yet the pic came out sunny and serene looking. Kind of synonymous with my life :)
