I have been type 1 for 57 years,and are quite satisfied with syringes and vials which i have always used,because,i think it serves my situation the best.After all this time i am still only on 2 daily injections,before breakfast and before my evening meal.I have read so many posts,where people where desperate for a pump,but when they had it,they did not like it and have reverted,back to their original way.There are so many different types of apparatus available now,compared with 56 years ago,when i was diagnosed,the only method was a glass syringe,which had to be steralized each week.

Yes Isophane - I remember boiling syringes and my mum threading wire down reusable needles- they were like drainpipes! It was fantastic when they bought me (very expensive) disposable ones which I made last a week! It must be great only having 2 injections. I'm now on four as I have a different insulin which is 24hours+ rather than 2 X 12 hour ones I've had for years. I still prefer it to a standard pump.

There is a wide choice of what Diabetics can use to get the insulin into their bodies these days,i think the Diabetic should use the method which they prefer and suits their Diabetes the best.

I have been on injections for 50 years and would so like a change of treatment, but have been told by my nurse that I would have to buy a pump! I am unemployed at the moment. Is this true about pumps? Is it fair?

I have seen so many comments on other sites where people have had a pumps,and for different reasons,they did not like them and have reverted back to their old method.I know pumps are helpful to some Diabetics,but when not employed,i think they should only be made available,if peoples lives are put at risk,by having to many highs/lows.

I have been on injections for 57 years,just 2 injections a day,before breakfast and before my evening meal,and i have good control and readings.My Endocrinologist has never mentioned a pump.I think it should be up to each person,with Diabetes,which method they prefer.I have read on some Diabetes websites,because they are no good with maths,they have no idea how much insulin to have.

I would definitely prefer to be on a pump, though it is not available where I live. Injections do not bother me - after 33 years of injecting why would it?

I have been on 2 insulin injections for 54 years,so am quite happy to stay on just 2 injections per day,before breakfast and before my evening meal.There are so many different methods these days,i think you should be able,to choose the one you prefer.

Insulin pump definitely and never thought ai would say that with being a type 1 diabetic since I was 4 and 1/2 yrs old on old fashioned needles and insulin then later onto pens. I ended up injecting 6 times per day on a good day and where I was injecting sunce childhood was no longer working. The move to Insulin Pump was a no brainer for myself personally.
