Hi everyone ..Happy new year to you all ❤
I'm nearing the end of my 20 sessions of radiotherapy fri wil be my last .I can't believe its nearly the end. I got as far as 10 before my skin got sore . Got a rash around the breast but got cream to help it and it did .so now I'm on 15 and nipple is like a golf ball & small pain throb bing but not so bad I can cope with it . I am told this is all normal I'm not wearing a bra for as much as I can to let the air at it .I'm on antibiotic as of today as I caught a chest infection wed and can't shake it so doc saying it's my immune system is very low so I'm off work & taking it easy .anyone else have any problems after radiotherapy?

I'm a few years out now and I did not have any problems till towards the end of treatment I got sore and had to use creams. But now - when I bend - to iron or something - I get pain in the muscles of my upper back - and. I think it's long term muscle damage. From radiotherapy. I rest- and it goes off. So - as my nurse said - radiotherapy is sometimes a gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks Margaret. That makes me feel a bit more assured. I have an appointment for my year check up with my surgeon in July so I will get the scar tissue checked as it’s very hard but not at all painful. I didn’t want to go to my gp so I am very grateful for this advice

Equally so though Niki - if you have any doubts see somebody- what about your Breast care nurse? I was always told that if apain goes off or is killed by pain killers - it is nothing to worry about.

Also if you had a masectomy - it could be the clips inside you- this happened to a friend of mine. Also- I had a lumpectomy and the scar was very hard and I have lymphodema in that breast. A macmillan nurse was teaching me how to massage the lymphodema to move the fluid- which has almost gone- but she also massaged the scar tissue - which eased it a lot. But If in doubt- see somebody but don't worry too much as the scars are always hard round them.

Thanks Margaret for the reply. I’m not in any pain. Was just worried that the scar tissue is still hard. I guess it’s still healing on the inside. I think I stress too much and that causes a lot of my aches.

We all stress too much! Any little pain or discomfort....... But it is usual for the skin to be hard around your scar and it feels odd when you examine your breasts. Once I was in such a panic I was examining my breasts and felt a hard lump- and it was the scar and I had forgotten where the scar was in the panic! So - it's normal to worry!

Thanks a million for the message I know I’m not the only woman to be worrying about stuff like this and before Brest cancer I wasn’t a. Worrier at all. I’m getting mentally tougher to it. Thanks for the reassurance. How are you keeping now. X

In this discussion you can name the type of your cancer and identify other patients with the same type and talk about it together.
