Sorry Mary I have triple negative - I wish the hospital or they Breast care nurses would introduce you to someone with at least the same type - I know with me most people I know - who have Breast cancer - have hormonal which is not the same as mine. They gave different worries about the drugs they are taking whilst my worry is no drugs.

Margaret there is a drug you can take for triple negative and it is oone of the bisphonates (not sure if I've spelt it correctly). However your oncologist has to recommend you for it and it is not a given that you will be offered it. It is given by infusion every six months for a few years . That's all I know about it but it is supposed to stop secondary cancer. I'm trying to get it for myself but no joy so far.

Firstly Sallya the drug Bisphosphonates (?) can be given but it has to be part of the original treatment or within a few months of finishing treatment. Some people I believe are really ill with it- it is the drug given to people who suffer with osteoporosis. I was told I was not suitable because solong had gone by since I finished treatment. The oncologist explained all this to me and said that it could be given to anybody who was having treatment at that time. Also it is not everywhere - it is only certain centres. Also it is not a preventative- in that it is not guaranteed it has a certain percentage of success but it is not the real answer. Niki I am not as positive as I might seem at times. Like everybody else I have good days and bad days. I am now though a few years down the line - I was diagnosed in 2014. So I have experienced the panic with every little pain - the fear of every mammogram - the worry about the future. I am now at perhaps w hat my consultant calls the most dangerous stage. I am sure if you are a negative you have been told that for the first five years you have more chance of reoccurance and after less chance. This is only slight but - I'm getting near the five now and will breathe a slight breath of relief when I get past it. Though of course you are never free of worry. Tips- set yourself small easily achievable targets, do lots of things but don't be ashamed of taking time out when you are tired. Do what you enjoy doing. Try to know your body again and try to begin to trust it again after that trust has been destroyed. Also remember- some people have it far worse than you. That makes you feel more humble. Live life ! Try- so very difficult to live in the moment. But it is good to talk to people on this site- as only they really know the fear and the pain though people close to you will try.

Other tips Niki - I'm sure you have been told about excercise - this does not mean joining a gym - you could walk every day. I used to do this- walk hard for 30 minutes a day - but these days I tend to run out of time. Try to eat well - once again this is slipping with me as some days I don't have the time-and I chose to lose some weight as well also I persuaded them to put me on the small aspirin - luckily I have no heart trouble- as research shows this canbe preventative against some kinds of cancer. But I wish there was a tablet I could take which would mean I was doing something! But lots of hormonal cancer sufferers suffer with side effects! Anyway if anybody has any other tips - please share. Somebody told me about turmeric- so I might take supplements?

In this discussion you can name the type of your cancer and identify other patients with the same type and talk about it together.
