Hi @Karen56
According to the Daily Mail, of 18 pilot schemes, eight have now either cut weekend or evening hours, or stopped providing the service altogether, research by the GP magazine Pulse found.
I wonder just how news that the pilot scheme was operating in their surgery was made to patients - were patients fully aware of the extended times? If not, this could be the reason it was not a huge success.
I know from news reports, many GP's were against it, so maybe they wee not keen to encourage its use? Or maybe there is not a long wait for an appointment at the pilot surgeries. I know at my husband's surgery, there are no available appointments on the on-line booking system for at least a week, so longer opening times or weekends would be quickly taken up.
I will keep an eye out for more news.
