Medication indications

Tranexamic Acid 100mg/ml Solution for Injection

Local fibrinolysis:

For short term use in prophylaxis and treatment in patients at high risk of per - and post-operative haemorrhage following:

a) prostatectomy

b) conisation of the cervix

c) surgical procedures and dental extractions in haemophiliacs

General fibrinolysis:

a) haemorrhagic complications in association with thrombolytic therapy.

b) Haemorrhage associated with disseminated intravascular coagulation with predominant activation of the fibrinolytic system.

Tranexamic acid 100mg/ml Solution for Injection

Prevention and treatment of haemorrhages due to general or local fibrinolysis in adults and children from one year.

Specific indications include:

- Haemorrhage caused by general or local fibrinolysis such as:

- Menorrhagia and metrorrhagia,

- Gastrointestinal bleeding,

- Haemorrhagic urinary disorders, further to prostate surgery or surgical procedures affecting the urinary tract,

- Ear Nose Throat surgery (adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, dental extractions),

- Gynaecological surgery or disorders of obstetric origin,

- Thoracic and abdominal surgery and other major surgical intervention such as cardiovascular surgery,

- Management of haemorrhage due to the administration of a fibrinolytic agent.

Tranexamic Acid 500 mg film coated tablets

Tranexamic Acid 500 mg film coated tablets are indicated for short term use for haemorrhage or risk of haemorrhage in those with increased fibrinolysis or fibrinogenolysis. Local fibrinolysis as occurs in the following conditions:

1. a) Prostatectomy and bladder surgery

b) Menorrhagia

c) Epistaxis

d) Conisation of the cervix

e) Traumatic hyphaema

2. Management of dental extraction in haemophiliacs.

3. Hereditary angioneurotic oedema.
