Has anyone managed to get free of the addiction of Nitrazepam? I have been taking these tablets for over 40 years.

I have tried many times to come off of them but fail but now the head of my GP practice has given me a year to stop taking them and he is now reducing my allowance by one tablet each month for a year by which i will not be able to have anymore.

This has increased my anxiety and having read about about withdrawal symptoms which includes fitting i am terrified of that happening.

I feel that i am being bullied and don’t know how to cope with the fact that they will no longer supply if I can’t manage to give them up.

I will be forced to either try the internet or a drug dealer which is not appealing so any help out there to cope with the withdrawal symptoms.

I take 2 tablets a night as i have chronic insomnia and the stress this is causing is making it worse sometimes i am lucky to get an Hours sleep a night.

The practice manager was really nasty and talked over me when i tried to explain why i took them .
