Medication indications
Co-Trimoxazole 40 mg/200 mg per 5 ml Paediatric Suspension
Co-Trimoxazole Paediatric Suspension is indicated in children aged 12 years and under (infants (>6 weeks to <2 years old) and children (>2 to <12 years old) for the treatment of the following infections when owing to sensitive organisms:
• Treatment and prevention of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonitis (PJP).
• Treatment and prophylaxis of toxoplasmosis.
• Treatment of nocardiosis.
The following infections may be treated with Co-Trimoxazole where there is bacterial evidence of sensitivity to Co-Trimoxazole and good reason to prefer the combination of antibiotics in Co-Trimoxazole to a single antibiotic:
• Acute uncomplicated urinary tract infection.
• Acute otitis media.
• Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.

Co-Trimoxazole 80 mg/400 mg per 5 ml Adult Suspension
Co-Trimoxazole Adult Suspension is indicated in children (>12 to <18 years old) and adults (>18 years old) for the treatment of the following infections when owing to sensitive organisms:
• Treatment and prevention of Pneumocystis jirovecii. pneumonitis (PJP)
• Treatment and prophylaxis of toxoplasmosis
• Treatment of nocardiosis

Co-Trimoxazole for infusion 16 mg/ 80mg per ml
Co-Trimoxazole for Infusion is indicated in children aged 12 years and under (>6 weeks to <12 years old); children over 12 years old (>12 to < 18 years old) and adults (>18 years old) for the treatment of the following infections when owing to sensitive organisms:
• Acute uncomplicated urinary tract infection: It is recommended that initial episodes of uncomplicated urinary tract infections be treated with a single effective antibacterial agent rather than a combination such as Co-Trimoxazole for Infusion.
• Treatment and prevention of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonitis or “PJP”.
• Treatment and prophylaxis of toxoplasmosis.
• Treatment of nocardiosis.
• In general, the indications for the use of Co-Trimoxazole for Infusion are the same as those for oral presentations.
