On 40mg per day and they are working to the best of my knowledge. Going for a health MOT in a few months, so I'll discover if they are still working. As for the side effects (muscle & joint pains), have that problem from time to time. Though unsure if they are the cause.

Apart from the effects of muscle aches and pains, has done its job by lowering my cholestrol.

I have been prescribed Atorvastatin 20mg recently and was wondering when would be the best time to take them, as I also take Metformin at breakfast and again with dinner.

I took this medication for 3 days and was so ill; nausea, cramping, diarrhoea, headache, tiredness, fever!

I stopped the medication myself, phoned the Doctor and told him I won't take it. He wants to see me to put me on another medication... Anyone got ideas of one that won't cause stomach upset etc.

I was prescribed Atorvastin (20mg) on 31st July, 2018, and took my first dose (one per day) on 1st August, 2018.

After 3 days of taking it, I've never felt so ill! I woke up yesterday, 4th August, 2018, with stomach cramping, nausea, headache, and extreme diarrhoea; I then spent the whole day in bed sleeping and running to the toilet! By last night, I still felt absolutely exhausted, drained, and took Anadin to clear the headaches.

Many years' ago I was given Simvastatin which gave me severe muscle pain/cramping, and advised the Doctor that with Gastritis, it's always been a problem.Today I feel so much better, but have now stopped the medication myself!

When the doctor knows we have had a previous problem with this type of medication, why give it to us?
