Have you considered surgery as a treatment for your (or your loved one's) epilepsy?

There are 2 types of surgery: resective (removing a very small part of the brain that causes seizures) and disconnective (disconnecting the paths between the nerves in the part of the brain that causes seizures). Have you heard about these two types?

Has your doctor ever talked to your about the possibility of doing the surgery? How do you feel about it?

I have had epilepsy for 44 years, but was diagnosed in Zimbabwe at the age of 16.

Lack of medication made me go to South Africa and again, lack of medication was a critical factor. We had a lack of Neurologists and Specialists, so surgery wasn't possible unless you were under a private doctor and on a Medical Aid, which would pay for the surgery.

Many people in Africa are unable to undergo surgery due to costings, lack of doctors, Neurologists, Epileptologists, and more.

If surgery was offered to me now after re-locating to UK, I would take up the offer!
