I think this is the beauty of this site, we share the information we each have and get more knowledgeable about our illnesses and treatments. I think in these days of cuts and cutbacks, it is sensible to know as much as we can so we can look out for ourselves a bit. :)

@Karen56 , Be careful because using Naproxen long ter m can be very bad for your stomach ... It gave me gastritis and a stomach ulcer and that was whilst taking 20mg of omeprazole twice a day . I am no longer allowed any anti-inflammatories .

Hello @xDarenx yes I am as careful as I can be with all my drugs and always consider their side effects, and I always read the leaflet in the box to see what the manufacturers are saying, you can never know too much about what you take. I also take 20mg of omeprazole following the gall bladder problem, acid reflux and heartburn with was from the gall bladder, now it has been taken out, problem has gone.
i am also banned from taking anti-inflammatories, even the rub in creams, which I thought were better, but doc says just as bad,,,,@Hileena, maybe a chat with the doctor, and maybe the uk.mediguard.org site for the information about effects on the body.
Well be back soon, ttfn from Karen

Hi Karen
Thanks, will look up the mediguard site...never been on it.
As for a chat with my GP....she doesn't do chats, its in and out as fast as possible, ask about one thing and that's it. If you want to ask questions about anything else you have to make an appointment for each question

I was taking Diclofenic until I had a bleed in my stomach which made me vomit 'coffee granules' and made my stomach very sore. My doctor immediately took me off of them.

I take Diclofenic now on prescription due to the lack of Naproxen being available as a capsule or liquid. My cancer treatment meant I cannot swallow tablets so I am stuck with Diclofenic. But I did take it for years and had no side effects during that period, the benefits were great no aching limbs!

Hi
Where are you? I haven't come across a shortage of Naproxen in capsule form.

Cambridge, both my GP and Chemist claim there is no Naproxen capsule just large tablets. At one stage where taking capsules was impossible and no liquid form could be found. I had to simply drink copious amounts of children's Ibuprofen which was delivered in small bottles 20 to 30 a time, one bottle a day!

Hi
Like I said before, I was on diclofenic and then put on naproxen because it was safer......well as safe as possible they said!!!!!.
The only pain dullers I was on was parcetamol and naproxen. Because of the fractured trtochanter bone almost 2 years ago the consultans and GP's are still trying to control the pain.......the GP put me on 10mg MST twice a day {slow release} I'm coming off the Naproxen now !!!!! Help!!! Obviously the pain hasn't gone its just lessened but they said they thought I should come off Naproxen now the pain was more or less under control. I'm going away for 4 days next week so don't intend to come off them until I come back LOL
