I was lucky enough, if I may say so, to be diagnosed rather quickly by a rheumatologist whose sister also suffers from fibromyalgia. My GP thought it was rheumatoid arthritis so he sent me to a rheumatologist. Obviously, I had to wait months for my appointment, and these were some really difficult months..
what are your stories?

To be honest I don't really know if my fibro has ever been properly diagnosed. I kept going to my GP years ago now with various ailments & my Mother had read an article about fibro & a lot of my symptoms were the same. I do remember seeing a consultant at my local hospital in the rheumatology dept as I thought I had Parkinsons which my Father had. I think when I see the doctor next week at my local surgery I will ask her if she can refer me to rheumatology for some treatment, advice, medication, physio to help not only my fibro but also my arthritis. I've had none of these things & I just keep struggling on. Perhaps there will be nothing that can be done but at least I will be able to get some up to date information & help.

Fibromyalgia may be hard to diagnose as it resembles in symptoms other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis or chronic fatigue syndrome.
How long did it take you to get the right diagnosis? Did you suffer from a diagnostic error or was it obvious for your doctor that you had fibromyalgia?
Was the doctor that diagnosed you well-informed about this condition?
