Had a flu jab today - went to have stitches out for the biopsy and the nurse said that now I have a diagnosis of angina, I am on the list for annual flu jabs, so she did it while I was there. Now to see what effects if any I get.

In the 16yrs since I was dx with a1ad zz emphysema I had the flu jab every year until 3yrs ago I had a really bad reaction and it laid me up for 4 weeks and did a fair bit of damage to my lungs I am now 20% FEV. Since then I have told my GP and consultant just what they can do with the flu jab they grumble a bit and try to get me to have it but I am a stubborn old sod. At the time I stopped I started taking one tab of Rhodiola every day and I was also was given a long term antibiotic Azithromycin 250mg at the same time by the hospital consultant at The Royal Brompton which I take one tab 3 times a week. I have never had an infection now for 3 years. Long may it last. Also would like to mention that I read one post that said they had a pneumonia jab and that helps, may I say anyone with severe emphysema should look into having that jab every 5yrs I do because that is one illness that will do you in. Most COPD consultants agree with this finding so it is worth mentioning it to them. They will either give you the jab or send a letter to your GP telling them to.

Hello everyone,
It is sometimes adviced to get a flu jab when you have asthma, since the flu can make the asthma more difficult to control. Do you get a flu jab for your asthma?
All the best,
Marina
