Asthma and life post-COVID-19

My shielding letter has just arrived. It says 12 weeks from today. Can I include the weeks I've already done or do I start again. 

Self isolating is the term used when you have to isolate if you have symptoms or live with someone with symptoms. Those at very high risk are being told to ‘shield’ for 12 weeks and have to stay at home and not go out at all for that period. I know it’s only the terminology but I think it’s important if you’re trying to get advice to use the correct wording so as not to confuse your medical team. I’m 2 weeks in to my 12 weeks shielding as advised by my asthma nurse. High dose symbicort, respimat, montelukast and ventolin. 2 lots of prednisolone this year so far. 

Until recently I was controlled with Qvar and salbutamol as needed. But now I’m on Qvar 100,  Salmeterol , Salbutamol and Montelukast and I’ve had 3 weeks of oral steroids. Should I be shielding or I’m I ok to continue working as a nurse with the current situation? Everything has changed in the last 6 weeks for me so obviously I never received a letter from my gp or the nhs. Occupational health have said I should be shielding but my sick note runs out next week and my gp surgery said they’re not doing letters for employers. 

Well it seems to me that I am the same as everyone else, I take Montelukast 10mg tablets as well as 2 inhalers.

I also have cancer and a heart condition and fully expected to get a letter. how wrong I was!!! No letter

I filled out a form on the Gov.org site claiming that I should be on the list but have heard nothing

And if that's not enough I am full time carer for my wife who is bedbound with M.E

Also to add to my troubles I am getting constant chest infections and on my 2nd lot of steroids and antibiotics

We plod on....Oh everything that comes into the house is wiped down with dettol and NO ONE comes in

@Pudsey‍ and Treamas67 I was on these too but because I work I still had to go. Unfortunately i took ill with a chest infection and I have been off on sick. I'm due to go back to work on 18th of May but my anxiety levels are sky high which is causing my asthma to be worse. While I'm in the house I'm fine but I've been going out once a week with a mask on to do shopping because I have to go back to work. I am so stressed while out and I'm exhausted when I come home. If you dont have to go out I would say isolate

@Jinty63 hi thanks only go out for shopping and medication  don’t wear a mask but thinking I should 

I've just lost my friend to covid and she had asthma so I suppose I'm a bit paranoid at the moment. Take care

I feel that all asthmatics should self isolate. If I get a cold, I usually end up with a chest infection. 

I would say because so many people have asthma in health care the government decided that it should only be severe asthmatics that isolate, I think that's unfair, as I feel we are at greater risk too! 

I'm off work with an asthma flare up, peak flow is low.

I ve  been self isolating for 7 weeks now my asthma is so unpredicable and cant seem to tame it . I have be  Demed to be in the high risk and venerable recived a letter telling me to at the beginning of lockdown
