I have suffered with asthma since a baby. I would be really interested to hear any diet related ways of improving this condition.
Thank you

I don't think there is any special diet for asthma patients. What can trigger a crisis is a food allergy which we need to avoid. Its is essential to read all food labels and buy stuff free from allergens. This may reduce the risk of having an asthma attack when you are least expecting it.
I have always trying to lead a healthy way of life so my diagnosis doesn't really change anything except for the fact that I am even more careful with the food I eat :)

I have had asthma all my life and only now in my late 50s found out that I am allergic to wheat gluten and nuts both of which trigger my asthma .The problem I have is with the long term effects of steroids which has caused me to develop all sorts of digestive problems as well as diabetes leaving me unable to enjoy a list a mile long of different foods. They don't trigger my asthma as such but the side effects of eating certain things leaves me stressed and struggling which in turn triggers my asthma .

I just wanted to share that I'm gradually transitioning to a vegetarian diet (off all meat, including poultry and fish, still eating eggs and thinking about cutting out dairy as well). I feel like it's really helped with overall inflammation, including my asthma. Has anyone else tried?

@Debsdc Hello Debsdc, thank you for your comment. I'm glad that you're seeing results! What made you make the switch to a plant-based diet? Did your GP recommend it, had your read something about it, or was it just a feeling?
Hello members, I hope you don't mind me tagging you. Have any of your tried any particular diets? What do you think about the plant-based diet? What works for you?

I’ve always had a bit of a battle with food so I’ve never tried really, I was very young when I was diagnosed with chronic asthma, 7 I think so I’ve just learned to live with it, a bit defeatist I suppose but I’m ok with that, I hope you all find a way to help with asthma, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, sorry I haven’t been much help. Take care , Becky ( jovijbj) xx

@Courtney_J I've always struggled with my diet/weight. I was a member of slimming World and found this was helpful however my sister who is not asthmatic but suffers from high BP is currently having a pescatairian diet and insists she feels better for it. I'm not a fish lover so I'm not to keen on trying this. I will stick to my chicken n plant based diet.

There’s evidence that people who eat diets higher in vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, flavonoids, magnesium, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids have lower rates of asthma. Many of these substances are antioxidants, which protect cells from damage.
Are you following any specific diet? Are there any products that you avoid eating and why? What is your favourite healthy food? :)
We are waiting for your tips!
