Have you considered any other diet plans, or is it the only one you'd like to try?

I don’t know the Paleo diet. Many years ago I lost quite a lot of weight on the Atkins Diet but was then was told that it was dangerous to exclude the majority of carbohydrates from your diet, stopped and most of the weight went back on. I keep thinking about giving it another go

I don't know the Paleo Diet.
I am also not one for diets, as it is often hard to stick to them, and one tends to put on the weight afterwards.
The Keto Diet is high in fat and due to food allergies, I have to tend to play safe with my food.

I have tried several diets in the past without great success. Having Diabetes I have to watch the sugar contents in foods to keep my blood sugar near to normal, the way I manage this is to reduce the carbohydrates and have smaller meals. Everyone finds their own balance and choices.

@Courtney_J Hi Courtney ,Flowergirl ,Never heard of that diet, but no doubt you have checked it out, My diet is not limited ,but I eat fish a few times a week, limit my fries to once once a week ,eat lots of vegetables. I take cod liver oil and turmeric extract as food supplements. A diet should not leave you week or tired if you have depression at times then you need a proper diet "The brain—unlike any other part of the body—runs exclusively on the sugar glucose, and strenuous cognitive activities require more glucose than simple ones, says McNay, who has studied how the brain uses energy to perform work. During a difficult memorization task, for example, the parts of your brain involved in memory formation will start consuming more energy, but other brain areas will show no such increase. “You will in fact burn more energy during an intense cognitive task than you would vegging out watching Oprah or whatever,” he says. But in the context of the average person’s overall energy expenditure, the difference in calorie burn from one mental task to another is a tiny amount, he adds.

I have not nor intend to try the Paleo diet! I have followed a life long Gluten Free diet, due to my Coeliac disease. I do not believe that diets, other than those for intolerances, are beneficial.

@lar123 hi that's exactly what I'd like to avoid - getting my weight back on. Although losing weight is not the only reason for which I decided to try a diet plan, but I know weight fluctuationsare not good for you. How long were you on Atkins diet for?

@Pippadog Hi thanks for your reply, I was wondering if you succeeded in reducing your carbs by a lot? How much do you eat a day/a week? Have you been feeling better since you cut your carbs intake? Sorry for all these questions, just curious. Thanks!

@lesmal Hi, me neither, I've never tried any diets, always thought them useless. But I've recently came across this article on all these new diet plans, and I told myself I'd give it a try. I've put on some weight lately, and I don't find my diet balanced enough for someone with chronic illnesses. So I thought it might make me change my eating habits

@whitecross1955 hi, I do agree with you, I'd never take on a diet that would leave me weaker than I already am, and I'm certainly not ready to suffer, food is one of the things that brings me joy!
Can you please tell me if it was your doctor that advised you to take food supplements?

I've been thinking of starting a diet plan, and I thought I'd try Paleo diet. However, I'm not really sure I'll be able to stick to it, as I will have to avoid all processed foods, carbs, and I admit I find it hard to limit them, let alone avoid them completely.
So I'm looking for someone who is familiar with this diet plan and who can help me decide if this is right for me. Thanks!
Amy
