What some people fail to recognise is that if they are changing there medication or increasing doses you should ask questions about why or the possible side effects I’m lucky in the fact that my consultant will listen and tell me all about things that you should know about changes In medication and the fact I can call him if I’m having a really bad flare up at work and he will get back and discuss things to do or that can help me so don’t just take there word for medications and increased doses ask questions and get the answers you want hope this helps

I sometimes feel doctors just expect us to understand everything they say at speed . Often I’m digesting one piece of information and miss the next one. The body is a very complex machine and we still don’t know everything about what makes it tick or what makes it break down. I believe Covid has been very detrimental to everyone’s health in other conditions

@Kimberley68
hi, I am sorry to hear you are not at all happy with the way your GP and your consultants treat your health issues. Have you tried any patient support groups or associations? Like Diabetes UK, for example. They have a helpline you can call or email, and ask any kind of questions about your life with diabetes. Here is the link: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/how_we_help/helpline
I hope this helps! They work with specialists who should be able to understand if your pain comes from neuropathy or not, and will probably also be able to refer you to your local diabetes doctor. I think it's worth a try! They also have support groups, which can be quite helpful.
Let us know if you find anything out regarding your foot and elbow pain.
Good luck and stay safe!

@Courtney_J ... The service from GP's. Specialists and consultants is definitely not what it used to be. Our doctors were so pressurised during COVID-19 and it seems some of them still are.
The teleconsultation process might work for some, but not for all. One cannot explain to a specialist or neurologist what is exactly happening during a telephone conversation. Face to face is needed for many health issues. I haven't seen my neurologist face to face for over 2 years now; a teleconsultation is not the same.
I am lucky enough to see my doctor when urgent, but I just wish things would return to normal.

@lesmal I also hope things will return to normal in the nearest future. This situation can't last forever, patients need their doctors, not telephone conversations.

Hi everyone,
How have you been doing?
I was reading an article about coping with the burden of living with a chronic condition, and I came across a piece of advice which consisted of sharing in the decision-making about your health, meaning that you should be included in all the decisions concerning your disease management, your treatments, your healthcare team, etc.
So I was wondering if you can say that you are part of the decision-making team in your case? Or are you feeling as if you have been left out and you have no control over the decisions that are being made concerning your own health?
Would you like the situation to change? How do you think you can change it?
Any thoughts you have on the subject are welcome!
Take care!
