Hi I'm new to this forum. My son who is 17 was diagnosed with partial seizures at 7 and at 14 he had his first grand mal, he had 89 grand mal seizures over the fllowing year. I managed to get him an appointment at alder hey hospital and he was given lamotrigine which was gradually increased over 2 years and controls the grand mal seizures very effectively, he has just had an EEG test today as the partial seizures have not really altered. He can still have up to 20 of these a day. He also takes melatonin fast release to combat insomnia. I'm still hopeful that he can lead a normal life its heartbreaking having your child ask you am I going to die

My heart goes out to you @Julesbaby. Both my sons have Febrile Convulsions as babies, my first hand experience at seeing fits and everyone was scary as the first I witnessed. No one wants their children to suffer. Glad your seeing results with the Medication (myself don't tolerate any medications).

I've just read through some of the comments on this page; and feel for each and every one who suffers from seizures. I have a family member who suffers with an epileptic tendency; and is taking regular AED's to combat the possibility of a seizure. Any help or advise is always appreciated.

@Nytsom Thanks for taking time out to read this thread! Always welcome to have non sufferers input and we all can learn new things. Just so many different angles on this disorder and I'm trying to manage it drug free as I don't tolerate them!

Hi I was diagnosed with tonic-clonic seizures in 2012, after having seizures for ten yes. My medication isn't controlling it and I am so fed up with it all now. I'm on 1100mg epilim in morning and same again at night. I also have to take clobazam too
