I had a heart attack two years ago, which came as a surprise. Since then i have tried to make some positive lifestyle changes. My job is very sedentary, but now I have a desk with incline, so i can stand during the day. I also bike to work instead of taking the bus. And of course I am concerned with my diet. I am not fanatic, but the days with cheesecake and bearnaise are over. I think about my health every day now and the fear of another heart attack is still there. But I think the fear is helping me to stay on the right path, it's a reminder that if I don't take care of myself, it could happen again.

My diagosis was quite uneventful. I had some mild chest pain on-off for a few days and went to see my GP. It didn't take long to find out that I have cardiovascular disease. I was surprised, but finding out was nothing like I thought it would be. I always imagine heart attacks etc. So I am very happy it was so mild and got caught early. I am more cautious now, with my diet and exercise in particular. My wife had a bit more of a hard time. She was so worried, but after a few years with us managing it so well, she is more relaxed too.

Hello everyone,
I am interested in hearing about how you are coping with having a cardiovascular disease. How did your react when you were diagnosed: Did you change your lifestyle completely, make slight moderations, did you become afraid of owerworking yourself? And are you holding on to all those feelings?
Good day to you all,
Marina
