My nan (maternal) always said she regretting marrying my grandfather as he had asthma which has been passed on down the line. One cousin had it so bad she was sent to a school on the coast. Another had really bad eczema. Can always remember her covered in bandages. My mother & myself suffered badly from, migraines. My eldest daughter has eczema even at 50. It seems I have had asthma since my childhood which until 5yrs ago was mild. I now have COPD as well. So yes asthma has a tendency to run in families with all its by products

I was the first in my family to have asthma as such but my mum had bad hay-fever. However my son gets asthma and I wouldn't be surprised if my daughters youngest daughter, is asthmatic later. She is only 5 months old but had to have oxygen for a few days when she was born and her breathing at times is quite shallow.

The genetic asthma in my family had passed down from my grandad to my Mum then to me and my brother, it is allergic asthma & we all have hayfever too. Lucky I did not pass my asthma onto my daughter but She has hayfever & skin allergies.

Hello,
So as the title says, are you the first one in your family to be diagnosed with asthma? If you aren't, who else has asthma in your family?
Please share, it will be interesting to see what the different experiences of members are :)
