Well done, but make sure you have your inhalors with you as it could still catch you out

@JazzyC That's wonderful to hear that you are still able to exercise but I agree with @mjteddy, it is always good to have your inhaler at hand :)

I have COPD, but my partner suffers from asthma. What's the best exercise routine for people with bad lungs, haha? We'd both like to get more active.

I have had asthma for nearly 60 years and when I was growing up it was deemed that it was best not to do any exercise.
I had a bad flair up about 20 years ago and ended up in a wheelchair practically housebound. Depression kicked in, I put on a lot of weight and my marriage failed. After my husband left I decided that I needed to do something, I was put on a new treatment and weaned myself with my consultants help, off the steroids.. I now walk every day and do breathing exercises to help my breathing. Gradually the distance I can walk has got longer and I try to do some gentle stretching exercises that sort of thing. My asthma is better but I have other problems which limit me to a certain extent but I do as much as I can.

My Asthma is very well managed. I also have a long disease and CFS. I exercise regularly (gym and walking)and it’s helps both, I rest when needed and try to follow healthy diet. No major set backs for years, bit cold and viruses take their toll

No longer, as too many conditions. Either interelated like severity of lungs Pulmonery condition. Although I would have liked to return to Heart Rehab Exercise sessions stopped in 2010. I was in fact due to return for Final 6 months befor transferring as fully capable, Permently to a Fire Service Dept, which had Defibillator, just as Disabilty flat I live in now! has had one fitted outside main entrance recently, apparenly as I am on something called Guard List. (High rise Flats Stay inside to be rescued hopefully?) Also just waiting for Emergency Alarm System and wrist bracelet to be fitted, along with system in case ever loss of Electric outage of any type still have 100% supply Back-Up. Good to know and hopefully as needs Coordination from 24 hour call Response Centre, followed up by Emergency Ambulance crew, have box access outside Main Entrace, to retrieve spare keys. Another point I do eanestly believe in exercise as major help with aiding Heart and Astma and many conditions. Thank you!
Merry Christmass & Happy New Year Blessings to Everyone involved in operation of Carentity. Also all Friends I have made over years, those I also Helped.

I find myself getting out of breath easier now but I have other conditions alongside asthma. Exercise is very difficult sadly.

My asthma is fine when I'm walking at a gentle pace, but if I'm out with my fiancé it can flare up as my fiancé is a fast walker.
I hate walking up steep hills or over the railway bridges near my mum's.
I used to be able to run for the bus when I was in school and college, but I can't anymore as anything faster than walking my mum's pace is too much for me.
I also have to be careful that I don't get a chest infection (I had one twice and they were a year apart) when me n my fiancé lived in hartlepool, but touch wood, I haven't had one since moving back to my home town.
I know when I'm either coming down with a chest infection or if I have got a chest infection as it triggers my asthma something horrible as I have a coughing "fit" (I cough and can't stop coughing) which doesn't ease off or go altogether when I use my inhaler.

@sophiesmum I agree with you, going up hills and stairs is terrible. I live in an old house and I try to programme my days so I only have to climb the stairs once or twice. Do you find that humidity affects you?

Asthma can make your everyday life more difficult, especially if it is of a severe type, and it may be hard to do or to force yourself to do certain things, like exercise.
However, doing sport is very important for people with ashtma, as it helps strengthen the heart and the lungs, and stay in an overall good health.
What about you? Do you continue doing physical exercises despite your asthma? In what way do you think it helps you?
What kind of sport do you do and do you prefer outdoor or indoor activities?
Thank you in advance for your replies!
