Hello all,

I haven't been on in a while since I've been busy, but with this coronavirus business I've become a bit worried. Since the virus is so hard on the respiratory system I'm worried that my inhalers (I'm on Ventolin and Qvar) are putting me at a greater risk. Do you think we should cut down our use of them? Especially the Qvar? I've heard that steroids really do a number on the immune system. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?

Hello. I am on 4. inhalers Fostair double strength steroid and 3 others, including of course Ventolin as used for many years. when asthma gets to control?
I kept to doses prescribed apart from Ventolin which I had to use more often difficulties. Having another 11. weeks of 12 total isolation is not good for overall health.

Also fact nobody with key can just drop into say hello! Over internet or text and phone call is not the same. Especially in past a friend noticed I was not looking well despite all inhalers and other medication taking regular. I was in fact not well as ended up in hospital on two different occasions second occasion diagnosed my Aortic aneurysm. Thankfully by heart surgeon and a Professor.

@Courtney_J it felt better a few days ago but I keep having periods of chest feeling clear no phlegm to opposite really chesty wheezing and hearing my chest rattle with all junk on it drs have been trying to treat me from home for chest infection they decided today I should probably be seen at hospital so 999 was called and two amazing paramedics came out they have examined me and reassured that my sats are ok resp rate at 24 and listened to my chest which they are saying is compact and crackling they phone gp as they were not sure what to do 50/50 hospital or not as they didn’t and don’t want to compromise me as I’m at high risk at moment with this exasperation so myself paramedics gp have decided safer to stay at home and see if I can get through the next 24 hrs and to call 999 if symptoms get any worse I have had 7 day course of amoxicillin 500mg a course of co amoxiclav 500mg first course of steroid tablets were 5 mg x 6 once a day these were increased to 8 tablets for five days and I now have another course they have added in medication carbocisteine 375mg three times a day sorry for long reply am just hanging in and hoping this infection will clear it’s typical of me tho to get an infection middle of a worldwide pandemic I have been stressed anxious but I’m still going x

@Courtney_J went doctors today at last they invited me to surgery to be assessed at 9 am was 999 to hospital as resp rate 36 very wheezy pains in left lung starting to hurt on right side but have been discharged to home with pneumonia im now on two course of antibiotics now clarithromycin and doxycycline along with prednisolone and my normal steroid inhalers and preventers so glad to be back home tho still trying to stay positive although feel worried.

Hi just finished prednisolone and Doxycycline after a week rang gp for a repeat as still wheezy. 999 was called and after 2 nebulisers and oxygen taken to hospital. Had x-rays ECG put on IV with steroids and antibiotics and being treated for dehydration more nebuliser and oxygen and swabbed for covid. Admitted to ward steroids and levofloxacin. After a night being sent home with pneumonia and on lockdown got steroids for another 5 weeks and antibiotics. Awaiting covid results but even if negative may be down to inaccurate taking of test and may still have coronavirus. Feel so tired and in pain but I'm home.

Hello Missfulham1. Being on 4. Inhalers for both Asthma and lungs problems. Also numerous other conditions of severity. Putting me Frailty listing regarding COVID 19. I am using extra inhaler likely because of and also 12 weeks Isolation. Regarding your continuous cough at your time of writing? Hopefully your coughing has eased now especially as worried you and conditions. If you are still coughing ? You should contact either Doctor who knows your conditions enough to advise next step. Especially if still coughing you should read 111 better being safe. Let them decide next step for having used in past. It took since hours for Doctor to come.

One of our members in France who is asthmatic was recently diagnosed with the coronavirus and he kindly shared his experience with us in a testimonial.
