Hi James sorry to hear you going through your illness. When I had my colonoscopy after I had been pooping blood for a few months I could see visually on the screen that there was mucous puss bleeding in my bowel there and then I was diagnosed with UC. Did they confirm it with you too? I have to say though it was a slippery slope for me from that day on but u may respond to medication better if it is UC you will be a guinea pig of various meds till they find what meds suit u. In my experience u can have irritable bowel along side bowel disease I know it real sucks if u have both so the diet will have to play apart for you too. Rice is good for me on a flare up, pasta veg grown under ground , sour dough bread only keep low fibre , coconut water is good , dyoralite to replace your salts, bovril! Bovril does wonders and u will have fatigue if you do have UC u will prob start to find u will take longer to recover from a run too. Sorry for waffling but I have 7 years of tips!

Hi I was diagnosed 6 years ago with ibd ...IBS... UC..symptoms upon diagnosis were frequent toilet visits red blood in poop and tissue often tummy cramps nausea tiredness this all came on over a period of around three months till I had all the cameras which confirmed this awful disease was then given steroid suppositories had to use for 6 weeks not nice at all also was given a tablet called asacol which helped tremendously took around 2/3months till went into remission which lasted a few years just a few minor flare ups after this .then the trouble started my meds changed to octasa they were ok at first but now I.m into my 4th month of a flare up and with this covid thing my specialist appointments keep being cancelled and I'm becoming really worried spoke with my gp who on looking up my poop tests which I took in November where active and not been followed up he contacted my specialist and managed to get me an appointment all be it via phone on 25th this month here's hoping

Hi All,
I am new to this all and very confused with the diagnosis.
A week ago today I was in hospital after experiencing sharp stabbing pains in my stomach - I passed out of the toilet but never actually went. I did manage to go half hour later.
I tried to sleep it off but my stomach was so uncomfortable and around 4am I had the urge to go to toilet and I passed only blood.
I went to hospital and they sent me home saying it was a stomach bug. I got home and the blood kept on coming out every 20 minutes roughly so I was advised to go back in.
I was in hospital for 2 nights where they carried out a CT scan that showed my bowels were inflammed/ infected. They also carried out a biospy where they place a camera from behind to see inside.
I was discharged with what I take as a premiliminary diagnosis of UC as I have only received pain medicine to deal with my symptoms such as painkillers, anti sickness and laxitive. I have to wait 4 weeks for a refreal to gastroenterology and find out the results of the samples from the biopsy and the footage.
I am clueless what to do now? I have barely eaten since getting home as feel naseous and my chest up feels really acidy. I feel really fatigue and sleeping alot of the time and losing weight when I really dont need to. I have passed a bowel movement in over a week as I dont think my body is getting enough food. I must admit I am really scared of what is going to happen when I do.
Does anyone have any advice? I am a male and 32. Usually fit and healthy and run over 50 miles a week minimum.
Thanks in advance.
James
