@Courtney_J I think I heard about that study around when it was published, absolutely horrifying.
I can't cite a particular incident with a male doctor where my health had been put in danger or where he's been openly rude or condescending, but I think I've seen more of an impression or maybe a perceived lack of patience with me versus how the doctor would have acted if it were my husband instead of me. In general I try to see a female doctor when possible because I'm just more comfortable.

Hello ladies,
An astonishing American study published a few years ago revealed that a woman who has suffered a heart attack has a 5.4% lower risk of dying when she is treated by a female doctor.
This highlights an important issue for us women: male doctors' understanding of their female patients, willingness to listen, to accept their symptoms, etc. Many of us may have experienced this for ourselves, feeling like we haven't been believed or taken seriously by a doctor.
What about you? Have you ever been mistreated or not taken seriously by a male doctor? What happened? Was your diagnosis delayed or were you even misdiagnosed because of it?
